The blond examined herself closely in the mirror, as she heard the footsteps of her best friend approaching her bedroom.

"Hi. You look cute." Ivey smiled, wrapping her arms around Carrie from behind, causing the small woman to force a smile, something her best friend was use to by now.

It has been ten months now that Stephan, Carrie's father, had passed away. He was diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer, in October and was gone before Christmas.

Never before had Carrie felt such pain, in her life. Never had she thought she ever would. It seemed as if the second he was gone she was too. It was like she was dead inside. Carrie had no emotion, no feeling, no smile or happiness. She wasn't Carrie anymore, she still isn't Carrie.

"Are you ready to go?" Ivey smiled, widely causing her to nod picking her purse up from her bed.

"I hope no one starts to ask if I'm Carrie Underwood." She let out a sigh as the duo walked down the porch stairs, towards Ivey's car.

"But you are!" Ivey exclaimed, letting out a laugh, her best friend rolling her eyes.

"Ivey, no I'm not. I'm not Carrie Underwood anymore. I know you out of all people can agree that I have changed." Carrie became serious, glancing over at Ivey occasionally. "I don't want to be Carrie Underwood. I don't want to sing anymore." She confessed honestly.

That statement shocked Ivey, more than anything else Carrie had said, since her father's death. Singing had always been an escape for Carrie, always something she'd turn to in order to release her feelings. For Ivey to hear Carrie say such a thing worried her.

   "Why?"

"I don't feel like my dad liked me singing... I don't know. I don't want to talk about it anymore." Carrie answered gently wiping the tear from her eye.

"Alright."  It hurt Ivey to hear Carrie in so much pain. Of course she'd been upset for a long time but, Ivey never thought she'd hear Carrie say she didn't want to sing.

The two stepped out of the car, making their way towards the tall, somewhat structured church.

Although Carrie was still upset about her father's death and was angry at God for taking him from her, she knew that her father would be upset to see her not going to church. She always knew, her father wanted her faith to be strong.

"Hi Mark." Ivey smiled widely, greeting her boyfriend at the doors, Carrie's eyes focused on his friend.

"Hello. This is my friend Mike. Mike this is my girlfriend Ivey and one of my best friend's, Carrie." The blond forced a smile, as always, shaking hands with the tall handsome brunette.

"We should probably get inside." Carrie said taping on Ivey's shoulder, pulling her best friend away from giggling with Mark.
