"Ivey told me about what you said, you don't want to sing anymore?" Carol sat beside her daughter, in the living room of Carrie's house.
"I don't think dad liked me singing, me in that career." She answered with a slight nod, unsure of how else to explain herself.
"I have something to show you." Carol stood from the couch walking into the kitchen.
Carol hoped and prayed that showing Carrie the scrapbook would help her see that her father did support her. She hoped that it'd pull her out of this depression, that seemed to swallow her the second he passed.
"Carrie. Your dad loved watching you sing. He loved hearing you sing..." Carol took her seat, right beside her daughter. Carol opened the scrapbook to the first picture of Stephan at the Opry.
Picture after picture, they went through looking at each one. Stephan went to a most fifty of Carrie's concerts and she never knew.
"Carrie. He didn't want to tell you because he knew you'd want to see him and he didn't want people to know." Carol explained, as small tears fell from her daughter's eyes. "Carrie he loved watching you sing. Don't give this up. This is what you were ment for." Carol added, pulling Carrie into a tight hug.
After a little while, Carol decided to head to the store meanwhile, Carrie looked back through the scrapbook. Her jaw dropped, shocked to see Mike in a picture with her father.
"Hey... Can I meet you at the coffee shop?" Carrie was already getting into her car, when she asked Mike this question over the phone.
"Um sure... I'll see you there." Mike answered confused.
Carrie needed answers. Why was Mike in a picture with her father? Were they friends? Did they go together? She needed to know.
Walking into the coffee shop she immediately saw Mike. "Oh my gosh, he looks so... Hot." Carrie's thought began to wonder. There wasn't a doubt in her mind that she had a crush on Mike, and it was difficult for her to hide it.
"Hey, you look..." Mike paused, as he stood up, hugging her gently, causing her heart to beat a little faster. "Beautiful." He finished, embarrassed that his voice had caught in his throat.
"Thank you." Carrie softly blushed, the two taking their seats. "I have a question. Did you meet him at my concert? When you took your niece of course." Carrie let out a small sigh, showing Mike the picture of him and her father.
"Stephan! Yes, I love him, he is so funny. Stephan really seems to love you too. Our seats were right beside each other's." Mike answered, letting out a laugh.
Carrie bit her lip, trying her best to hold herself together, before she stood up, walking quickly out of the coffee shop. She turned the corner of the building, then began crying, completely overcome with emotion.
"Hey... What's wrong?" Mike asked worriedly, wrapping his arms around her, noticing she was crying.
"That was my dad. I just... I didn't think he ever went to any of my concerts." Carrie answered biting her lip softly. "I'm sorry." She apologized, somewhat embarrassed that he'd seen her crying.
"Don't apologize. I understand." Mike softly smiled, reassuringly.
"I feel so stupid." Carrie let out a small laugh, at herself.
"Don't, listen I have to go. Is it alright if I call you tonight?" Mike questioned, Carrie's heart seeming to stop as he said that.
"Um, yeah. Sure." She forced a smile with a soft nod.
She left the coffee shop, completely shocked at what'd just happened. She was excited to talk to Mike; she was curious as to why he wanted to talk. Did he like her?
Carrie hadn't had a boyfriend in almost two years. She never thought that she'd have feelings any time soon. Mike was a nice guy, a really nice guy. Maybe they would be together.
How are you feeling about it so far?¿
