"They're all over each other." Mike said, standing beside Carrie as they watched their friends giggle together, occasionally pecking each other's lips.

"Most of the time." Carrie surprised herself, once a laugh escaped her mouth, glancing over at Mike who was smiling.

"Ya know... I was standing beside you in preaching and you sing beautifully." Mike complimented causing her to softly nod, not trying to be arrogant in any way. "Then I realized, you're Carrie Underwood." Mike said, causing the fake smile to disappear from Carrie's face. "I actually took my niece to one of your concerts for her ninth birthday, right before she passed away actually." Mike's smile seemed to disappear also, as he finished his sentence.

"I am so sorry." She softly placed her hand on his arm, sympathetically. "May I ask, what happened?" The two began walking down the stairs towards Ivey's car.

"She had Neuroblastoma. Took her pretty quick actually." Mike answered, looking down at the ground. "Just a year ago..." He added causing her to sigh.

"How are you so happy? I don't understand."

"I know that she wouldn't want me upset. I know that she is in a better place, a place with no pain, no tears and no suffering. I am happy for her. It hurts of course but I am more happy for her than I am sad for myself." Mike explained.

It made sense to Carrie. If her father was to see her so upset he'd be angry at her. He'd be angry at her for allowing herself to become such a different person. Maybe she could be happy.

"Come on. Let's go." Ivey said opening her car door.

"It was nice talking to you." Mike smiled, before walking towards Marks truck, Carrie sitting in Ivey's car.

The whole way to Carrie's house, she couldn't stop thinking about what Mike had said. It made sense. He was right. Her father was in a better place now, a happier place and she wanted to be happy for him. She didn't want to be sad all the time anymore, and mope around her house not wanting to talk to anyone. She wanted to be Carrie Underwood again.

"Bye. Is your mom still coming up tomorrow?" Ivey questioned, Carrie getting out of her car with a nod.

"Yeah. I'll text you later." Carrie answered, shutting the car door.

Carrie entered her house, a picture of her father immediately catching her eye. "You're happy. You're pain free. You're probably playing baseball with Grandpa..." She softly whispered staring at the picture, of her smiling father.

A small tear escaped her eye, once she made it up the stairs, into her bedroom. She tried to hold herself together, she didn't want to cry anymore. She didn't want to be sad and depressed anymore.

More than anything, Carrie wanted to be happy for her father. But how? It seemed so hard to put her feelings aside and be happy for him. How long would it be until she got to see her father again? That's what hurt the most. Not knowing when she'd see him again...
