Do It Again

Chapter 22

"What are you doing here?" I whispered from where I stood.

"I have to talk to you." Rocky took a step into the room.

I looked up at Blake. He wouldn't look at me. He was focused on Rory.

"I don't think you should be here." I held Rose closer and backed up a step. I didn't want to see him.

"I need to be here." He got closer. "I need to explain."

"There's nothing to explain. I don't want to hear it."

"It doesn't matter. I want to say it."

I looked away from him. He got much closer. I saw his feet standing right in front of me. He put his hand under my chin and pulled my eyes to look at him again.

"Let me explain." He whispered.

I looked past him at Blake. "Will you give us a second?"

Blake nodded. "I'll be in the hallway."

I watched him take my baby out of the room with him. It killed me to send him away. He's the only one who hasn't lied to me. Who hasn't kept secrets.

"What?" I looked back at Rocky.

"Last night wasn't what you think."

"Well it sure as hell looked like it." I pushed him back a step. "You just invited a prostitute to your room and expected me to not find out."

"She wasn't a prostitute. She isn't a prostitute. I made her leave right after you did. She was an old friend from school. I ran into her the other day and told her I was staying in this hotel. She must have taken that as an invitation. I never invited her. I would never do that to you. After what we did last night, how could you think that?"

"Because we didn't get to finish because of her."

"We can finish now." He moved closer.

I turned away. I was just about to kiss Blake. This felt wrong.

"You swear she was just an old friend and you didn't invite her over?" I changed the subject.

"I swear."

"Why was she wearing those clothes then? She looked like she came to party."

"She had just came from a club. She was drunk. I called her a cab and made her leave. I'm so sorry she interrupted us."

"I am too."

"Can we have a redo tonight?"

"I'm staying in here tonight."

"What? Why?" He looked upset.

"I already told Brittany, Blake, and Ryland I was staying in here. After what happened, I didn't really want to see you."

"Can't you tell them something else?"

"It's the last night Brittany's here. I have to somehow tell Blake I'm moving back in after she leaves."

"You can't do that tomorrow?"

I shook my head. "I'm gonna do it tonight."

"I don't want you being here alone with him when you tell him. What if he gets mad?"

"I trust him. He might get upset, but nothing worse is going to happen."

"Maybe I should come up when you tell him."

"I'll leave the door between these rooms unlocked so Ryland can come running over if need be."

"Ashley." He didn't like it.
