Do It Again

Chapter 28

My heart stopped. "What makes you think that?"

"The sickness, the moodiness, the running back to Rocky all the time. It's kind of obvious. Are you going to answer my question?" He got closer.

I didn't know what to say. I took a step backwards and toward the door. There was broken glass everywhere. I stepped in a pile of it and fell to the ground into a larger pile.

"Ashley!" Rocky moved to help me. "Are you ok?"

I picked up my hands and started pulling glass out of them. "I guess."

"No you're not." He placed his hand under mine. "You're bleeding."

He was right. There was blood all over the palms of my hands.

"I'm sure I'll be fine." I shrugged it off. The amount of blood was scaring me.

"You should go to the hospital. You might need stitches."

"I don't want to go to the hospital." I whined.

"This bleeding isn't going to stop." He looked at my feet. "Your feet are bleeding too."

"I did step in it."

He reached out for me and picked me up. "I'm taking you to the hospital." He turned to Riker. "Clean up your mess. This was your fault."

I held my hands in front of me to keep from getting blood everywhere. Rocky carried me down the stairs and to the front door.

"Ashley's back?" Rydel followed us to the door. "What happened?" She saw the blood.

"I'll explain later." Rocky never stopped. "She needs stitches."

I tried holding me feet up in the car. I didn't want to get blood on the floor.

"Are you in pain?" He placed his hand on my thigh.

I nodded. "Its stinging. Bad."

"We're almost there."

Rocky pulled right up front and got out of his car. He ran around to my side and picked me up out of the car. I held on tight while he carried me inside.

Once inside, two nurses ran over.

"Where's all this blood coming from?" The small woman asked frantically. "What happened?"

"She stepped on glass, then fell in it." Rocky set me on the stretcher the man brought over.

"Is there bleeding coming from anywhere else?" The petite woman asked.

"The backs of my legs are stinging. I don't know if they're bleeding." I looked at the pool of blood coming from my hands.

"That's a lot of blood." The man mumbled.

"You've lost quite a bit. We need to take you back immediately." The lady said.

"Can I come?" Rocky asked quickly. "I want to be there for her."
