Ashley's POV
I looked at the clock, and it read "1:43 a.m." I couldn't stand not knowing where Adriana was. I was terrified, and I missed her more than anything. I felt myself begin to cry, suddenly my cell phone rang and I practically jumped for it, hoping it was Adriana.
To my disappointment and surprise, it was a woman. "Mr. Purdy?" she asked.
"Yes?" I said trying to sound like I wasn't crying.
"We need you to come down to the hospital." she said.
"Wait, what?" I asked, confused. "What happened?"
"Please just come down to the hospital, we'll work it out when you get here."
"Oh okay, I'll be there soon." "Goodbye," said the woman, then the line went dead.
I quickly pulled on a shirt and some shoes, grabbing my keys, I made my way to the hospital.
Parking my car, I ran inside the building, to the nurses' station. "Is Adriana here?" I asked frantically.
"Sir, please calm down," said one nurse.
"No!" I nearly screamed. "I can't calm down! My girlfriend is missing, I got a call telling me that I needed to come here, now what is it that you want from me?" I almost found myself crying again.
The nurse came around from her desk and set me down in a chair, saying, "Wait here, I'll go get the woman that called you." I nodded my head, trying to stop my tears from flowing.
Minutes later, a doctor sat down next to me and said, "Are you Ashley Purdy?"
I turned my tear-covered face towards her and said, "Yes.."
She put out her hand for me to shake it. "I'm Dr. Williams."
I shook her hand and said, "Why am I here?"
She looked at me in sadness. "Your girlfriend.." she started. "She was brought in earlier this evening. We believe she was taken by a stalker that she didn't know she had."
I had a look of shock on my face. "Well, is she okay?" I said, unsure of her answer.
"She's fine, luckily she got away before any real harm could be done."
I let out a sigh of relief. "Can I see her?" I asked.
"Sure, but I need you to know, she's been through a lot tonight, she might not want to talk about it right now." I nodded my head, and she said, "She's in room 198."
I got up and said, "Thank you." I walked up the stairs and saw her room number. As I walked in, I saw her attached to a several machines. She was sleeping, her hair was a dirty mess, and she had bruises all over her, just like that night when I saved her. 'That bastard' I thought to myself.
"Ashley?" said the sweetest voice. I looked down at her and she was looking at me, with her beautiful brown eyes, and a sad smile.
"Adriana!" I said, hugging her tightly. She winced in pain, but she kept hugging me. "I was so worried," I said to her.
She pulled me away a bit. "I'm so sorry, Ashley.."
I looked at her, and she was about to cry. "No, Adriana, none of this was your fault, you have nothing to be sorry for," I told her.
She looked away. I touched her face, so she'd look at me. "Did he.." I was so afraid to know the answer. "Did he rape you?" I asked, my words coming out shaky.
She looked at me and hugged me tightly. "No, Ashley, he didn't. I got away before he could."
I only hugged her tighter. "I hope they find him."
She looked at me. "A nurse told me the police already have him in custody."
I looked at the bruises on her arms, only feeling worse. "We need to make sure he stays that way."
