Training started about a week ago. I mean, it doesn't sound bad, right? Then imagine being the worst in your class. Then, you might feel my pain.
"Okay," Bree said, "Just focus on the dummy. Pretend it's Fern or Heather or someone."
"We've done this five times. How will this time work any better?"
"Just try," Bree encouraged.
"Okay," I said. I concentrated as hard as I could, and suddenly, I speed kicked the dummy. Wait.
I SPEED KICKED THE DUMMY!!!!!!
Sure, it went a bit over board and I fell on my back, but, I had felt worse.
"I told you that you could do it!" Bree congratulated, "Okay, lunch break! Be back in thirty!"
"I just did that!" I breathed in disbelief. Then, I walked over to the other friend at the academy I had made besides Taylor, Travis. I held out my hand, saying, "You owe me twenty bucks."
"It was within the first week!" Travis protested.
"This is my seventh day," I retorted, "It still counts as the first week."
"Fine," he grumbled, handing me a twenty.
Just then, Taylor walked in.
"Ditching class to gamble?" she asked.
"No, we're on lunch," Travis started.
"And Travis over here just lost a bet," I finished, "And now Garrett's going to get that new game..."
"I could totally bust you two for this," Taylor threatened.
"And I could tell Perry about the time you swiped her keys to go on a midnight joyride..." I mused.
"How much do you want?" Taylor asked.
"I'd rather see Perry's reaction," I decided, "Anyway, what are you guys doing this afternoon?"
"Bree's giving another speech about how obsolete we are," Travis groaned, "So, nap time."
"I have to train for the bionic bracket," Taylor said, "Which is Davenport's excuse to make us beat each other up as a sport."
"I could coach you," I suggested, "I know a ton about bionics, my physical body is the problem. And my next class is just laser sphere target practice."
"Don't you need that?" Travis asked.
"We got bored after the first couple days, so now we just throw the targets at each other."
"Okay, sounds good," Taylor affirmed, "But seriously. How much will I owe you?"
"Hang out enough with me, you'll never be in the black ."
