I got back to the academy, ran to my dorm, got into my capsule, and slept. I know a couple people who can stay up till 3, no problem. Under normal circumstances, I am not that kind of person. These also were not normal circumstances. So, you probably understand why I made a beeline to the bed.
Four hours later, the alarm went off. This wasn't gonna be a good day.
I headed to breakfast, still half asleep. Travis was already there, and he seemed just as zombie like.
"Why didn't we plan this for Friday night?" I asked.
"I don't know," Travis replied, "But I do know that we're never doing that on a weekday night again!"
"Hey guys," Bree said cheerily, sitting down by the two of us, "You guys look tired."
"You wouldn't say," Travis muttered.
"Did you guys do something last night?" Bree asked suspiciously.
"Of course not! What would make you think that?" I asked, then yawned.
"Garrett," Bree prodded, "What did you do?"
As if right on cue, Davenport stormed into the dining hall, furious. He marched over to our table.
"WHAT DID YOU DO!" Davenport shouted.
"What didn't we do," I muttered.
"I HEARD THAT!" Davenport screamed again.
"Oh, come on! Nothing gets past this guy!" Travis complained.
"I gotten police reports. You snuck out last night and fought Fern and Heather. Twice!" Mr. Davenport accused.
"And I bought a sweet new ePod," I added, under my breath.
"You're currently making headlines right now! The press is especially emphasizing the fact that you didn't kill Fern and Heather! Just seriously injured them."
"What are you looking at me for?" Bree defended, "It's not my fault that blew up Troy! And killed Krane. Twice."
Travis and I joined in with Davenport in starting at Bree.
"And I'm starting to see the press's point," she admitted, taking the wrapped off her muffin.
"So, I'm promoting Garrett to yellow, and Travis, you and Taylor are gonna become mentors!" Davenport announced. Bree spit out a piece of her muffin.
"They're becoming what?" she asked.
"Mentors," Davenport repeated, "We're a bit understaffed, anyway."
"Whoa," Travis said, "This day just got a whole lot better."
"You three deserve it," Davenport said, "You're heroes. Now, take the morning off. The excitement in you guys doesn't mask the zombiness."
"Okay""Good Night" Travis and I said in unison before belonging for the mentor quarters again.
Ah, sleep...

May 25, Year 2
So, I updated on a Wednesday afternoon. If you're thinking that this is because I was too lazy to update on Monday morning, you're partially correct. However, IT'S OFFICIALLY YEAR TWO! I'm actually quite surprised that I stayed with HLRF this long, but things do surprise you...
🎈Happy Birthday HLRF. You'll get a cake on your third birthday.
However, this birthday "celebration" wouldn't have been possible without you amazing readers. So, I'm offering a proposition. For the rest of May, PM me any story you wrote, and I will read it and vote on every part. This is mostly because I feel like I should pay more attention to the stories that my followers write, not stories that strangers write.
Anyway, have fun with the used balloons. I'll get Adam to blow up more...
Here's to an AWESOME Year 1 and to an even AWESOMER Year 2 to come!
