As you probably, neither Taylor, Travis, nor I have super intelligence. If you didn't know that, great! That fact will become very apparent. Why, you ask? Well, let's say that we let the police handle Fern and Heather. And the three of us decided not to cancel our night out. Yeah. Now do you get it?
Anyway, I'm getting ahead of myself. Let's rewind to the time when the police had just taken Fern and Heather into custody.
"So, let me get this straight," the cop said, "You gave dangerous bionics to two psychopaths and let them run loose?"
"Hey, only one is a psychopath," I defended, "The other one is being controlled by the psychopath. But other than that, yup."
"Why did I have to bee assigned to Mission Creek?" the cop muttered as he and two others loaded Fern and Heather into the cop car.
"Well that went well," Travis said, rubbing his shoulder, "What now?"
"I say you go back top the isolated place you came from!" the cop shouted, getting into his car, "Maybe that will keep trouble away!"
As the car drove away, Taylor said, "Or, we could go to the mall. AS PROMISED!"
"Okay, geez," I said, "Let's not get into any more fights."
"To Mission Creek Mall!" Taylor cheered and sped off. Travis and I looked at each other.
"Girls," we said in unison, and followed her there.3rd Person
Fern and Heather slowly woke up in the back of the car.
"What happened?" Fern asked.
"We failed," Heather replied gravely. Fern then looked down at her hands. Cuffs, sure, but they didn't block bionic signals. Heather followed her gaze.
"Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" Fern asked. Heather nodded.Garrett's POV
We entered the mall, and Taylor automatically freaked out.
"This is so awesome!" She shouted, taking the mall in.
"Let's just get this over with," Travis grumbled, "It's already 11:30."
"Seriously?" I asked, checking my watch, "Cops are jerks."
"We'll meet in the food court in about a half an hour," Travis said.
"Okay," I said. Taylor just kept looking at the stores.
"Taylor?" Travis asked.
"What?" She replied dreamily, "Yeah, sure, whatever."
"Okay," I said. I casually walked over to Tech Town, the only place where I wasn't surrounded by clothes and pointless advertisements. The ePod Kappa had just come out, and I had been meaning to trade in my ePod Epsilon for it. I felt a tap on my shoulder, and turned to see the egotistical owner of Tech Town.
"Hi Scott," I muttered.
"Is that the ePod Epsilon?" He asked in horror.
"So?" I asked, "I've been able to upgrade it to the level of the ePod Iota, and it saved me a lot of money. And no, I'm not buying the ePad Note or the ePhone X."
"What about the SuperComputer V?" he asked hopefully.
"Just ring me up with the ePod," I said.
"You're missing out," I chastised as we traded ePods, "You're good to go."
"Thanks Scott," I said, walking out of Tech Town towards the food court. It was getting late and I was really hungry.3rd Person
"The academy was a bust," Heather said, eyes retracting back into her head. As they re-entered her eye sockets, she blinked a couple times.
"That is really creepy," Fern commented.
"So?" Heather replied, "It works."
"Where are they?" Fern groaned. Suddenly, her phone went off.

"Whelp, I guess we got our answer," Fern remarked, before hardening her expression.
"It's time to make them pay."Garrett's POV
I was eating for a couple minutes before Travis and Taylor showed up.
"That was the most magical half hour of my life!" Taylor exclaimed.
"It wasn't so bad," Travis said.
"You know, guys," I said, "We should probably get back to the academy. It's almost midnight."
"Yeah," Travis agreed. Then it happened.
I don't know why there was a big clock tower nearby, but there was. It started ringing for midnight. When it hit twelve rings, the glass ceiling shattered. Two figures rappelled down, and one sent a shock wave out. Taylor acted quickly, and activated her force field around us. But she, along with the rest of us, had been hit, and the field was weak. Travis geoleaped to the figure and hit it hard enough to make the shock wave subside.
"Garrett! Taylor! Get the people to safety!" Travis shouted. He didn't have to ask twice. In a matter of minutes, Taylor and I cleared out the mall. We sped back, and the figures unmasked themselves.
"Guess who," Fern said."I don't get it!" Taylor cried, "You were arrested!"
"And the cuffs didn't block the bionic signal," Heather explained.
"Anyway," Fern said, "It's late and I'm a bit tired, so I'm not gonna waste my time." With that, she swiped her hand to the left and flung me up to the top of an escalator.
While I recovered, I watched the four of them fight. Taylor threw a couple of punches at Heather, who blocked them with her elasticity. Fern put up a force field, thinking it would stop Travis. He just geoleaped inside and kicked her down. Taylor also fell down, but before Heather could do anything, Travis geoleaped himself, along with Taylor and Fern, to a roof support. Well, Fern didn't land on a roof support. It was a long way down.
I took that as my cue. I vaulted over the side of the escalator and landed with my back to Heather. She shot out with her electrokinesis, but I backflipped over it. I kicked at her, and she dodged it. Then, I used my super speed to punch her in the jaw, then the stomach, then flip her over my shoulder.
"Finish- it-" Heather choked as I used my molecular kinesis to grab her neck.
"No," I stated firmly, "I know you're in there, Heather. She's controlling you. You're stronger than her!"
"Who cares!" She choked, "I only need to be stronger than you!" She sent out a blast wave and hit me into the side of the escalator, smashing through the glass. Blood was dripping out from all over, but I didn't care any more. I sped over to Heather and sped her up to a ceiling support. I was done trying to get her to overcome the triton app. It was time to finish this. But she recovered.
Heather grabbed my foot and flipped me onto my stomach. She did a kip up and smashed her foot into my head. While I was still dazed, she kicked me off the side, but I grabbed the ceiling support. Without hesitating, she slammed her foot on my right hand, and I could hear the bones in my hand being crushed under the force. I was holding on with one hand, and that hand was starting to slip from a combination of sweat and blood.
"Good riddance," Heather stated in monotone, and stepped on the other hand. But her foot went right through it. Then, the image flickered out.
"Hello," I said cheerfully, climbing back up onto the support on the other side, "It's called holographic manipulation, by the way."
I sped up to her, and she threw out an elbow. I caught it, twisted, and cracked it as hard as I could. She screamed, and I twisted my foot around and kicked her in the gut while still holding on to her arm. She tried to collapse, but only injured her shoulder more. She started panted, and I slammed her onto the beam.
"I tried to give you a chance," I said, "But whatever you're doing, it's over."
I concentrated and generated a laser sphere.
"I'm sorry, Heather," I said, half seriously, "But at the end of the day, my bionics are better than yours. That's one of the perks of free will. Good riddance."
I let the laser sphere fly. It made Heather crash through the beam. But it also destabilized the beam. Too late, I started to run away from the ever growing break, but I was to late. I tripped and ripped open a gash on my forehead. Then I started free falling.
It's a strange sensation, free falling. It feels like you're both getting heavier and lighter at the same time. This was the end. That's all there was to it.
Suddenly, there was a flash of blue, and I never hit the ground. I turned and realized that Taylor was holding me bridal style. I quickly stumbled out of it, embarrassed. Travis geoleaped next to us. He took one look a me, bloody me (literally), and said, "THAT WAS EPIC!"Okay, I wouldn't describe that as epic. Stupidity, yes. However, we got the police to arrest Fern and Heather properly. They're in jail where they belong. But I can't shake off that feeling I had as I was falling. I'll never forget it. Ever.

May 2, 2016
Happy May, everyone! And what better way to kick off May than a violent, 1500 word chapter! Actually, I'm proud of how this came out. I'm learning how to write fight scenes, and don't worry, I'll come around eventually. This chapter initially had nothing to do with HLRF though. It was just an idea for a one part story, but I found that it fit so much with the plot that I could just add some stuff and stick after Night Out.
Also, How the Lab Rats Fell has about 125 votes! Holy crap! Honestly, I couldn't ask for a better support group. You guys who vote give me the motivation to spend two hours writing. Give yourselves a pat on the back; that's hard to do.
Whatever you guys are doing, just keep doing it. My best regards,
AJ🐶
