Two AM Talks

I had just given up on getting any sleep. Sure, Travis, Taylor, and I had snuck out for the night. However, I hadn't planned on fighting Fern and Heather not once, but twice. And now this!
Why might I be ranting this time? Well, the police can't find a proper way to interrogate Fern. So, guess who was called up from his nap in the police waiting room? Yours truly. At 2 AM. I had to go to an interrogation room that used cold water to make people talk first just so I could wake up enough to preform basic functions. The rest was coming, but not quickly.

I entered the room, and I saw Fern handcuffed to a chair with bionic signal interruptors. She looked just as tired as I felt.
"You look wet," she remarked.
"I was sleeping!" I defended.
"I would kill for some Starbucks..." Fern muttered dreamily.
"I'm sure you would," I replied, sitting down across the table, "Now, all you have to do is talk, and you can sleep. I'm guessing."
"Wow. Comforting," Fern deadpanned.
"Hey, you're the psychomaniac who attacked me twice in one night," I said, "Talk."
"Fine," Fern agreed, "But get him out of here." She jerked her head in the direction of the guard. I looked over at him. After a silent exchange, he left the two of us to our own devices. I must say, not the smartest move, but they were desperate at that point.
"I never wanted bionics," Fern started, "I always thought that they were overrated. A waste of power. Superheroes couldn't be trusted in my mind. Then Adam, Bree, and Chase came along."
"So?" I asked.
"I had been going to this club for awhile, sort of like the KKK, come to think of it, just aimed at super humans. When we met Tasha, I knew that it was my chance."
"Your chance to do what?" I asked.
"Eliminate bionics forever," Fern said, "I tried numerous times to kill Adam, Bree, Chase, and their bionic army. Namely the flooding of the mentor quarters by controlling Spike, resurrecting Krane's spirit on Halloween, and the tropical storm that destroyed the island. None worked. So I went to my last resort. Fighting bionics with bionics."
"So you want to get rid of bionics?" I asked.
"I used to," Fern said, smiling slightly, "Then I realized how it felt. You felt like you actually had control. Could make an impact on this world. I wasn't about to give that up."
"Then you zapped Heather, went rogue on your little KKK group, and ended up captured in a police station. Great plan."
"Okay, two things. One, it's the BBB: Band for Bionic Banishment. Two, I did more. Krane was a great ally while he lasted. But, in the end, he was just a spirit."
"And how that whole debacle was possible still dumbfounds me."
"So, I started playing Dr. Frankenstein. Resurrection, I'd call it. When I'm done, Victor Krane will be alive and I'll have a whole bionic army at my command."
"One problem with that. You're in jail. Or, will be very shortly."
"That's okay. I'll get out eventually. You'll see."
"Whatever you say."
With that, I started to go out the door. Once I was half way out, I sped away, and was back in a couple seconds holding a grande latte macchiato from Starbucks. I walked back in.
"Really?" She asked.
"Yup. Part of me feels like you'll need the caffeine. I had them put in an extra shot of espresso," I replied.
"This is why I talked to you."
"Don't push it."
"I'll see you again."
"I'm free on most Saturdays."
This time I left, and shut the door behind me. Maybe Fern and I haven't completely lost our sibling connection...

3rd Person: Much Later
The door opened to the hallway of Fern's cell. She had already downed the macchiato, and was still on high alert when the figure walked up to her cell.
"Who are you?" Fern asked.
"Me? I'm Giselle Vickers. Professional in android science. I heard about your work. I feel a similar hatred to the three bionics." The woman said.
"Why are you telling me this?" Fern asked.
"I'm proposing a deal," Giselle said, "I bust you out of here, and you team up with me to take down Adam, Bree, and Chase."
"Are you kidding?" Fern asked, "I'm totally in! It's time I met another person who's just as dedicated for the collapse of the Lab Rats!"
"Great," Giselle confirmed, "I'll be seeing you around."

I'm back! With a shorter chapter, I know, but it actually turned out longer than I thought it would.
Also, I'm making a bit of a plot change. If you read one of my author's notes discussing The Vanishing, you may be wondering why Giselle is here. I've changed me mind. The Vanishing never happened. Cool? Cool.
Anyway, that's all I really have to say. Please keep reading! I have plans...
