Chapter 8: Visitors

Chapter 8

Katniss P.O.V.

I realize that I told Peeta and the others that I would give him a chance. Like try to be his friend. But it's hard. So hard. The past just always comes back to me when I'm around Peeta. I don't know why. I'm better at handling it, but it still gets to me of course.

I also realize that my past wasn't exactly Peeta's fault, but he still did what he did and that's just not okay with me.

I'm starting to hate myself right now though. Because yesterday I found out something that didn't make me at all happy and that I haven't told anyone yet, and I don't think I will. I think I'm starting to get my feelings for Peeta back.

I'm in so deep shit.

"Earth to Katniss".

Jass is waving her hand in front of my face, while the other girls are looking at me.

"Hmm?" I ask looking up at Jasmine.

"You always zone out", Annie giggles. "What were you thinking of?"

"Or better yet, who?" Johanna asks slyly.

"No one and nothing", I say, and they all give me doubtful glances. "I'm just tired is all, someone here woke me up at freaking 5 am".

I look at Madge and give her the evil eye.

"Excuse me, I thought a spider crawled over my face", she says holding up her hands to defend herself. "I didn't mean to scream that loud".

"Right", I say and stand up. "So are we going to lunch or what?"

"Yes", Jass says. "But somethings come up".

"What?" I ask giving her the evil eye.

Madge books her arm around Jass arm. When I told myself that my girls and Jass would get along great I was right. It's like they've known each other for years now.

"The guys wanted to come with", she says. "And I said that they could".

"Madge Undersee!" I shout pointing at her accusingly.

"I just couldn't help it! Gale is so hot I actually think he's a fictional character!" She bursts helplessly. I knew she liked him! "So when he asked if they could come with, I couldn't say no!"

"For the love of God Madge, play hard to get and he'll fall head over heels for you", I say.

Madge looks like I hit her with a stone.

"And now you're telling me?" She mutters

I look at her slyly. Yep. Served her right.

"Maybe because you haven't really told anyone you like Gale?" Annie suggests. "We've all been waiting".

"I thought you'd be angry", she says. "Because Katniss like hates Peeta and everything".

"I don't hate him", I say and everyone looks doubtful at me. " I don't. I don't hate him I just haven't figured out how to forgive him yet, and I am giving him a change to be my friend".
