Chapter 4 - Olivia

I woke up to an empty bed in the morning. I glanced at the clock whilst yawning, trying to shake the cobwebs of sleepiness off of me. It was 8 o'clock, so it meant that Phil had already left for work. After I came back from the park yesterday I didn’t say anything to Phil about the Elizabeth because tomorrow I was at my most probable point of falling pregnant. If we had an argument, there would be no chance of that happening. Why was this happening to me? Was I so determined to have a child that I’ll let my husband walk all over me like I’m a doormat? A child with a cheater for a father. I sighed and put all of those thoughts at the back of my mind.

I got out of bed, showered and painted my nails to pass the time. I wore black jeans and a warm brown sweater that was the exact shade of Jordan’s eyes, funnily enough! Jordan had this really likeable presence about him, it was impossible to not feel joyous and happy around him. Even though I only met him yesterday, I could tell that that he was a bubbly and fun person.

The rest of the morning passed in a blur as I locked the house at 1.30 so I could get to starbucks for 2. I smiled as I recalled our meeting yesterday and I suddenly got nervous when I arrived on the high street and Starbucks came to view. What if he wasn’t there? What if he stood me up? Even though it’s just a chat with a friend. It’s weird, I’m already referring to him as a friend even though we only had a brief encounter yesterday.

I pushed the door open and took a seat near the window, where I was in sight. I had my forehead pressed against the window and I was startled when the waiter suddenly came to the table to take my order. I looked up to his face and my mind went blank. It was JORDAN. As in he was the waiter!

"What would you like ma'am?" He asked with an innocent look in his eyes and a smirk on his face.

"Jordan!" I squealed rushing up to hug him. He sat down next to me and poured two cups of coffee. I was about to protest, saying that I didn’t want coffee, because it’s always better to have less caffeine. Mentally I shook my head and changed the subject. "Don’t you have to work?" I asked him.

"No, I finished my shift, I just wanted to surprise you!" He said winking. I hit him lightly before sitting down comfortably.

"So Jordan, tell me about yourself and I don’t want a one sentence answer! Tell me everything!" I asked, because I didn’t know anything about him, except his name. But we had a spark, I don’t know how to really explain it, we just seemed to click straight away.

"Well, my names Jordan Harrison. I am 28 years old and my parents split up when I was 10. I have 2 younger siblings. I love dogs, walk in the park and starbucks! I'm single and I don’t know what to say anymore!" He said sheepishly.

"I'm Olivia Webb, I am 31 years old, as you know! I've never met my dad and lived with my mum when I was younger. Lets see, oh yes I am…married," I said. His eyes widened and they flashed with surprise when I told him I was married.

"Married?" He asked in a confused voice, almost dazed.

"Yes..." I answered slowly.

"Okay..." He said dragging out the word. I felt guilty, that I didn’t even tell him that. I don’t want him to think that I was just leading him on. I just wanted friendship, I really needed someone in my life to talk to right now. I bit my lip as I internally wondered whether to tell him about my cheater of a husband or not. Before I had fully decided I quickly started talking.

"Look, I’m really sorry I didn’t tell you about my husband, Phil. I didn’t realise it would be that big of a thing. I t-think, well I’m almost certain that he’s cheating on me." I whispered, my eyes getting wet and the tears spilling down my face. His face reflected with worry and concern.
