-Kate-
I woke up feeling like crap. I looked over at the bedside table at the clock and it read 6.43 am. I didn’t even get proper sleep and now I’m up early!
I got out of bed and went to the shower. I brushed my teeth and showered slowly. I tried my best to not think about the doctor’s appointment that I would be attending in less than 2 hours. 45 minutes later I was in the living room eating my bowl of cereal, when my mum walked in.
"Mum!" I yell, rushing into her arms. "I’m scared," I whisper, looking into her eyes.
"Baby there’s no need, come on now you have to get yourself together," mum firmly ordered me.
"Okay mum," I said sighing.
"That’s my girl," Mum said smiling and kissed the top of my head. Everything will be fine, I reassured myself.
Two hours later an I was still feeling quite scared. Mum and I sat in the doctors waiting room. I could feel my eyes drifting and my body was swaying a bit.
"Kate!" My mums shouted, her face right in front of mine.
"Mum?" I questioned, feeling very tired.
"What happened, you almost passed out?" Mum questioned, obviously worried.
"I’m just really tired, I barely had any sleep," I said.
"Alright come on then," Mum said looking up expectedly.
"What?" I asked her.
"It’s time to go in," mum said, as if she was stating the obvious. I got up, and pushed the door of the doctor’s room open.
An hour later I was at home, sighing contentedly walking around with my baby’s first scan and my new teddy bear that I had just gotten this morning. Everything was just great. Well except for that little confusing thing the doctor didn’t know about... my mind drifted back to the events of the afternoon.
We entered the room and I sat down on the chair that the doctor told me to sit in.
"Now, we need to do a few simple tests and then I can take a blood test. From then on, we can do your first ever baby scan!” the doctor chirped.
Half an hour later I had done a few pretty simple tests and the blood test and I now was awaiting the results for the blood test. Mum was sitting there silently, looking down at her phone.
"Mum, you don’t need him," I say softly.
"What did you just say?" She asked distracted.
"Nothing mum, I just don’t want you getting hurt okay?" I told her. Before she had time to answer the doctor came into the room holding a folder. Though I did see the confused look on her face as if she didn’t know who I was talking about. Her face was blank, confused almost.
