-Kate-

I fell asleep during the car journey, but a few hours later we arrived at a quiet secluded little village. I loved it already! We were staying at a little family hotel. After we had parked the car, we went to the little diner across the road.

We ate and then made our way to the beach, which was a five minutes’ walk from the hotel.

We walked hand in hand; I was wearing a flowy dress, while Ryan was wearing a top and three quarters.

We sunbathed for a while and took in some of the rays. After an hour or so we did the one thing everyone does at a beach…make a sandcastle!

"So, how would you like to go on a boat?" Ryan asked smiling.

"Really?” I ask excitedly.

Ryan smiled and led the way to the docks. There were several boats on the dock, ready to depart. There were huge ones and cute little ones as well. Ryan went to a couple of workers nearby to rent a boat. He helped me into a nice sized boat. He had even hired someone to do the rowing for us and the dude that sits on the corner of the boat with the violin playing the music. (that cliché guy in all romantic films - don't get me wrong, I love it!) I had my eyes planted on the violin and the peaceful music it was playing.

"Hey honey, tell me when you've stopped perving on the guy with the violin!" Ryan joked.

"You know I only have eyes for you, my love," I said looking into Ryan's eyes. We looked out to the view, commenting every now and then. Not before long, it was time to get off the boat and head back to the hotel.

We were about to eat dinner when my phone rang.

It was my mother.

"Hey mum, what's up?" I asked, rolling my eyes at Ryan from across the table.

"The results came back from the doctors, they said come in as soon as possible." Mum blurted out, her voice sounding anxious.

"What? Did they saw what it was?" I asked, in a rush.

"No, they wouldn't tell me because you have come of age and you are now an adult." mum said.

"Hmm, okay. We'll leave in a bit." I answer, feeling depressed already at reality.

"Okay bye." I hang up the phone.

"What happened?" Ryan asked, noting the upset expression on my face.

"Doctors." I replied, my face grim.

"So I'm guessing we have to leave?" Ryan asked tentatively.

"Yeah," I groaned. "We finally get some peace and quiet only to have it snatched away from us!" I say my voice quivering.

Ryan flashed over to my side and hugged me. I stood in his arms and soaked his shirt with my tears. He rocks me in his arms and holds me tightly against him.

"I'm scared," I say.

"There's no need, we are here for you." Ryan whispers.

I nod and then start to gather our things around. In 20 minutes we look around the room to see if we had forgotten anything, but the room was stripped bare of our existence. We silently walk to the car, and as soon as the comforting sound of the engine started, I was out like a light.

I stretched and got up slowly. Were we home yet? Suddenly, I widened my eyes and realised I was in my bed. When did we even get home, let alone me going to sleep?

I walked over to the living room but paused outside because I heard Ryan and mum talking.

"Did the doctors say anything, as to what it is?" Ryan’s voice shot into the silence.
