-Kate-
The girl standing in front of me had been transformed. She had her hair in a bun with a few curls hanging out. Her makeup was light and it enhanced her natural beauty. Her wedding dress stuck to her body, proudly showing off her bump.
Her baby.
The woman in front of me lifted a hand and pressed it at the base of her stomach and smiled. Her train of the dress trailed on to the floor behind her. A bunch of roses appeared in front of her and I finally tore my eyes away from the mirror.
I took the red roses and held them in my hand, the red contrasting beautifully with the white on the dress, exactly how I had imagined it in my mind. I looked at my flower girl and my 3 bridesmaids, Lucy and two friends from school, Clara and Erica. All three of them had identical beautiful red dresses, which ended above the knee. They had white roses in their hands and white stiletto heels on. All the girls had their hair curled, everything neat and in place. I must say, not being biased or anything, my girl Lucy looked the best. Lucy's younger sister, Rose, was wearing this adorable red dress the same shade as my bridesmaids and she looked so angelic with her hair curled.
"Are you ready?" Jake asked me.
Jake was standing in for my father, and he was also Ryan's best man. Not to forget he was our wedding planner. I really appreciated him for being an important person in my life now, he really was something special. Before I knew it, the week had passed by in a gush, and Saturday was already upon us.
"As ready as I'll ever be," I say smiling.
He nodded, and he reached for my veil and put it over my face. He then put his arm through mine. Rose had made her entrance and my bridesmaids were just walking in now.
A few moments later, a change in music and a nudge from Jake told me that it was our cue to go in. The notes of the wedding march were heard, the notes playing softly on the piano.
I slowly breathe out, paste a genuine smile on my face as we walk in. Seated a little ahead on either side of me were our families and friends. My side were seated on the right whilst Ryan’s were seated on the left. Our friends were seated alongside both of them.
I looked straight ahead and placed my feet on the first of the white fabric heading towards the priest. There were rose petals scattered along the cloth and a couple of metres away stood Ryan. He was wearing a black tux and his lips were stretched into a smile. I smiled back at him through my veil, but I mainly kept my eyes on the floor because I didn't want to be known as the stumbling bride.
The music was playing softly as I walked ahead. As I reached in the middle of the crowd, everyone stood up and clapped.
Flashes from cameras zapped, almost blinding me with their bright flashes. I kept a smile on my face, because this was my day.
I closed the gap between me and Ryan and he smiled at me.
"Beautiful." he whispered.
I smile at him, not knowing what to say.
I then pay my attention to the priest, he was about to wed us!
"Dearly beloved, we are gathered here together today to join together this man and this woman in holy matrimony. We are here to celebrate their union and to honour their commitment to one another. Today, Ryan and Kate proclaim their love to the world and we rejoice with them. May the pure, simple love with which you join hearts and hands today, never fail, but grow deeper and purer with every day you spend together." the priest introduces.
I smiled at the words, I was actually getting married!
"Ryan, do you take this woman to be thy wedded wife? To have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish; from this day on so long as you both shall live?" he asks looking at Ryan.
