An Interesting Day

Finn’s POV:

I’m so scared. I am literally terrified. How could she just leave me here!? I thought she loved me.

Okay Finn, it’s just her dad calm down. We’re going to have a nice male bonding day that’s all. I mean you are the boyfriend of his only daughter, he deserves to get to know you one on one.

Yes, Iris’s dad has requested some time to get to know me one on one. Yes, he is an extremely scary person. I mean sure he’s nice and all that but he is also frightening. Retired U.S military if that tells you anything.

“Calm down babe, you’ll be fine.” Nova said with her voice low so he won’t hear her.

We’re standing in our bedroom and I’m having a feminine moment because I don’t know what to wear.

“Not the stripes.” She said shooing away my right hand. “Do you have anything camo?” She asked slowly.

“Umm- no?” I answered.

“One second I probably have something.” She said rifling through her old drawers.

It took a second but she pulled out a sweatshirt that is green camo. I took it hesitantly and slipped it over my head. It smells like strawberries. So it smells like Iris. Surprisingly it fit well and Iris looked me up and down. Why does she have a camo sweatshirt big enough to fit me? She is quite small.

“Why the camo?” I asked her.

“Because you are going shooting and I don’t think you want to wear a V-Neck. Let me tell you when those shell casings get down your shirt they burn like Satan himself.” She said like she knows what she’s doing. “Now you look great, thank you for doing this.”

“Well, it’s not like I really have a choice…” I said humorously.

“Not at all.” She agreed. “But still, thank you.” She said again.

“Of course, but I do expect to be paid back.” I said flirtatiously.

“Oh yeah?”

“Yeah I guess you can give me a down payment now.” I said grabbing her by the waist and kissing her lips.

Our lips moved in sync for a while until we were interrupted.

“Let’s go we have another stop we have to make!” Her dad yelled from downstairs.

“That’s my cue!” I said kissing her once more and running from the room.

“Have fun!” She said with a chipper voice.

I ran downstairs and got in the truck with him and we were off. We drove for a good amount of time in a peaceful silence. Surprisingly not awkward.

“Where are we headed sir?” I asked respectfully after seeming like we’re driving toward Tori’s.

“We are picking up your two friends. Well brother and friend. And I told you, you can call me Jay.”

Why are we picking them up?

“Tori, and Bri are like my daughters and Don and I have to make sure that our daughters are with good men.” He finished looking at me with a sincere half smile.

I say half smile because I haven’t gotten a real one of those out of him. The only time I’ve seen him smile is when Iris came home, he truly missed her. It’s very evident that he loves her and is really happy with the woman she’s become. I mean every time she walks in the room he seems to glow. She’s his pride and joy, and should be. She’s beautiful.
