Prologue Kayla POV
I woke up to a feather fanning my face and my annoying best friend that it belonged to.
"Kayla, are you still alive?"
I groaned throwing a pillow at him.
"Aw, we're already to the pillow throwing stage. If you wanted me you could just ask. I know that you love me-"
"Ok, ok I'm up!" I yelled raising my hands up in mock surrender
He chuckled leaving the room, "Hurry up wouldn't want to miss the first day of senior year."
"Oh how I love watching girls suck your face off while I sit in the car defenselessly gagging." I said putting on my long white knit sweater and pulling on my blue jeans as I paired it with some brown ankle boots
"It's not my fault I'm irresistible, besides you have no experience since your brothers a nerd." His voice muffled through the door
I contained from rolling my eyes so I wouldn't mess up my makeup,"Your just jealous since Dylan is super smart and he's the star player on the basketball team."
He opened the door,"Please I'm just as awesome and you know it." plopping himself on my bed
I finished my minimal makeup and brush out my hair as it fell into natural waves. I tied it into a french braid and stepped out of the bathroom.
"How do I look?" I said doing an exaggerated twirl while giggling
"You look beautiful, now can we go?" James said looking at me smiling but impatiently
James had complimented me many times that what he said wasn't like some other guy but it still had an affect on me.
"Let's go!" I pulled James out of my bedroom and we headed down the stairs
"Bye Kay, see you later!" My brother yelled
"Bye Dyl! Tell mom and dad bye for me!" I shut the door and looked over my shoulder to see my not so innocent bestfriend grinding on another "helpless" female
I walked over to where they were,"OK THATS ENOUGH!" I split the two apart and dragged James to his car
I heard James mumbling profanities as we drove and I ruffled his hair and laughed.
There was a comfortable silence until I spoke up,"Promise me that no matter what, it's always going to be you and me." I looked over at James "That their will always be an us."
He parked the car and turned to me seriously,"I promise."
I smiled filled with content.
"Your grossing me out, I don't like this cheesiness." James cringed jokingly
"Shut up grasshole, we promise every year, it's basically tradition." I mumbled
