The weekend passed and all I could think about was what Liam told me. Was James really lying to me? Well only one way to find out. I was standing waiting at the empty hallway where I told James to meet me. I saw a figure appear with a smirk on his face,"What's up,Kayla?" he said putting his hands in his pockets
"Liam told me that you were pulling a prank on me when you said that we were friends again." I said getting straight to the point
"What? I would never!" he started laughing
"Why are you-"
Before I could finish my sentence I saw the entire school coming towards us and then my breath hitched in my throat
"What's going on, James!" I yelled loudly enough for them to hear
"Don't worry, it will only sting for a second." He stepped out of the way
Just as I was looking at him confusedly a huge mass of ice cold water came crashing down on me. It soaked my clothes but I didn't notice.
"How. Could. You. Do. This" I said still shocked
"People change, Kayla. I'm not the person I was before." he shrugged and let out a laugh
People were whispering and some laughing. When a fist came down on James.
"Why the heck would you this!?" Liam looks at me and sympathy was shown in his eyes as he started scolding his best friend
Just as I was trying to listen to their conversation I was pulled my a large figure who seemed very mad. "Um who are you?" No reply. The stranger wouldn't answer any of my questions and kept walking towards the locker room. Once we got inside the mysterious figure locked the door and sat down. Because of the water on my glasses I couldn't see who it was. But whoever it was took off my glasses with a sigh and said,
"Geez Kayla why do I always have to save your butt!"
Once they cleaned my glasses and put them back on it was Cira pacing back and forth running a hand through her hair.
"I'm sorry" I muttered
She sighed and hugged me knowing that this has been a long day on me. I still couldn't wrap my head around all that just happened. I'm glad that Liam was there to punch him in the face or else I would've done it. I thought I would want to get him back for what he did but now I just want nothing to do with him. James is right about one thing. He's changed and so have I. I'm not the same naive girl who would do anything if he asked me anymore. I'm definitely not the girl who used to be hurt whenever he would ditch me for his friends. I felt a jolt of sadness and my eyes welled with tears when I thought of how James has changed so drastically. I still remember whenever he would stand up for me if someone was being rude or wave at me whenever he was surrounded by people waiting to talk to him or is always competing on whoever got better grades. I miss that. But it was time to say goodbye.
