Second period came and I was pissed at Chase. We argued more in the hallway and I ended up getting pushed on the locker and a punched in the stomach. Chase didn't hit me hard because he couldn't do that to his best friend.
'Chase wouldn't put up a fight, would he?'
"Yes, he would. He's stronger than he looks, freak," I whispered to myself.
I bet I looked crazy talking to myself and calling myself a freak when it's referred to a man in my head. I sighed and looked at Mr. Naz. He was talking about creatures again. I didn't know who he was referring to but I knew it wasn't about werewolves. Werewolves couldn't turn into stone so cross out werewolves.
I was a little curious about what creature he was talking about. I hated when he didn't say the creatures name because it would be hard for us to follow. Mr. Naz and I locked eyes but then he looked away, looking at someone else. I was anxious to know what he meant about the quote. As I was writing what Mr. Naz was saying, I heard the door opened and someone clearing their throat.
"We have a new student. I know you may think that we shouldn't have another student join our school after what happened," there was a pause but then he continued, "but we have security now and we are keeping you safe."
The door closed and Mr. Naz started talking. "Hello, I'm Mr. Naz, your mythologist. You can sit next to Eddie Cano. Eddie raise your hand."
I raised my hand without looking up; I heard footsteps walking my way and then a chair moving. I felt the person's heat coming to me. I glanced at the person but I couldn't get a good look.
"Hey."
I didn't answer because I was too engrossed by what I was writing.
"Hey."
I kept writing.
"Hey!"
I jumped and looked at the person who was next to me.
"What. Do. You. Want?" I said while gritting my teeth.
The guy put his hands up and said, "Sorry if I bothered you but do you have a pen."
I rolled my eyes and looked for a pen. I couldn't find one so I gave him mine.
He flashed me a smile and said, "Thanks Eddie."
I was going to ask him how he knew my name but then remembered that I should be focusing on Mr. Naz.
'You should ask him. Maybe it'll bring back memories.'
I blocked out the voice and looked at Mr. Naz. He gave us five minutes to talk to our partners about the question that was on the board and Chase was usually my partner. I sighed and turned my body to the new guy.
"I don't know what's going on. Can you tell me?" The guy said and bit his lips. The guy had blonde hair that almost looked white, kind of like my hairstyle but different at the same time, brown eyes, and pale skin. He would fit in the popular table and the sports team.
I sighed again. "Nobody knows what Mr. Naz is talking about. He just keeps using the words creatures until we know what he's talking about. All we know is a creature who turns into a stone when they die."
The guy chuckled. "That makes sense. I don't know any creature they would turn into stone. But I know werewolves, vampires, demons, shape shifters, fairies-"
