Chase and I kept staring at the clock from period to period. We were sitting, our legs shaking nervously and excitedly, and our lips biting. We looked like two teens that are high on sugar and can't keep still. I sighed and closed my eyes, trying to calm myself. The man's voice hasn’t talked to me since Serge and Clayton threaten us about Denis' life.
I couldn't understand why the only killed the people we've just met. It's none of their business. I opened my eyes and the teacher kept dragging on and on about something that didn't matter to me at the moment. I looked at the clock and frowned when it’s almost time to go. I looked behind me to see Chase biting his nails. He looked at me and then shook his head while biting his nail.
Five...four...three...two...
The bell rang.
I quickly grabbed my bag and Chase's wrist as we rushed out of the room. We didn't wait for the teacher to give us homework and tell us we had a quiz or something. We walked to my locker and looked around to find Denis.
The bad thing about Denis was his looks and his personality. He made friends while Chase and I talked to Serge and Clayton and that made things worse. I looked at Chase and he was looking around with his thumb in his mouth. Chase would do that when we are hunting fleabags. It made us natural...or that's what my dad says. I groaned quietly when I thought of my dad. He isn't important anymore.
Chase tapped his hand on my chest and then nodded towards something. I looked at his direction and found Denis talking to a bunch of girls and less guys. He didn't look like he was comfortable with the girls but he tried covering it. We started walking towards him and then something made us stop. More like someone. Segre and Clayton were walking together in Denis' direction. We walked fast to Denis and when we got there, I smiled and bumped his shoulder on mine.
"Denis, do you want to hang out us?"
I didn't let him have to answer. I grabbed his wrist and pulled him out of the group and rushed him to Mr. Naz classroom. "What are you doing?" Chase asked and pulled me into an empty classroom. I locked the door and put a desk in front of it. At least it'll save us some time.
"I have to go to Mr. Naz for something. But now we have two dogs after us because we have him!" I screamed and pointed at Denis who gave me a confused look.
"I didn't do anything! Eddie, tell me what's going on!" Denis screamed and grabbed my wrist.
I looked at him and shook my head. "I can't or it'll get you killed."
"It looks like I'm already going to die."
"We won't let you get hurt, Denis," Chase said and smiled.
Denis smiled back at him and looked at me. I didn't understand why I was protective of Denis. I knew we were going to keep him safe because Serge's father wouldn't let him kill a human, but this was a little too much.
'Aria...'
I flinched when the man's voice came back. Why did he have to come at the wrong time? There was banging and stomping on the door behind us. We turned around and saw the door breaking every time they kicked it. I tapped my pants pocket and looked around to find something useful. Every time I kept hearing the banging, I jumped.
"Chase, you have to get him out of here!" I screamed and opened the window. I looked down and sighed in relief. There were only three windows door. I looked back to see Chase and Denis glancing behind them. I rolled my eyes and grabbed them by their wrist and tried pushing them down.
"Are you coming back?" Denis asked.
I looked at him in the eyes and it felt cliché. It made me felt as if I wasn't coming back. Maybe it did felt cliché since two werewolves are trying to kill him. I gave him a fake smile and touched his cheek with my fingertips. It was close what he did to me.
'Tick-tock, tick-tock, you're running out of time.'
The door flied opened and I did the only thing that made them safe.
I pushed them out of the window. I turned at them, not glancing if Chase and Denis were alright. They growled at me, their black eyes piercing through my soul. I felt the anger and the impatient coming off them.
I glared at them and gritted my teeth. "Why won't you go away?"
Serge growled. "We're not here for you. We want Denis."
"Eat me."
Serge smirked. I knew what was going to happen. I knew that I saved Chase and now Denis for my life. Those jackasses owed me. I made my hands into a fist, cracked my neck, and clenched my jaw.
"Come at me."
They growled and sprinted.
'You're time is done.'
