Things were going ok, Tate brought that girl Ella he was texting while he was kind of on a date with me, she was pretty but kind of ditzy, John Luke and I sat in lawn chairs next to each other but we didn't really talk much, the others were all cuddling and talking to their significant other, it felt kind of awkward, the parents were back the house talking and hurt hanging out while us kids wanted to have a fire and go watch fireworks down at the pound at around mid night, it was 11:25 and everyone was still talking, roasting marshmallows while I sat there not saying much

"Hey we should make our way down to the pound if we want to see the fireworks" Reed said looking at his phone then grabbing Brightons hand and leading the group down to the pound

"You coming Katelyn" Sadie asked me her and Beau were holding hands

"Nah I'll be fine I can still see them perfectly fine here" I said covering myself with the blanket

"You sure"she asked tilting her head a little, I nodded

"Ok you coming John Luke" she asked

"No I am not really in the mood" he said looking kind of sad

"Ok well we'll be back soon" she said before her and beau walked off following the pack, John Luke and I sat in silence for a couple minutes before he finally spoke

"So what did you think of Tate and Ella being here" he asked kind of shyly

"I don't know really, it's kind of awkward but what ever she seems like his type" I said laughing

"Ha seems pretty real" he said looking around

"So how've you been since the whole break up" I asked

"It's hard but I think I can finally tel this girl like how I really feel about her" he said looking at me

" oh really that's good" I said I felt like inside that maybe he was talking about me but I didn't want to get my hopes up

"Ya I hope she won't say no or not feel the same way" he said looking up at the sky

"She won't trust me, just be you and tell her how you feel" I said looking at my phone, it went silent for a couple minutes before he spoke again

"Katelyn I have to tel you something" he said sounding kind of worried

"Ya what is it" I said my insides went to complete butterflies

"I really... Um... Like you... I've like you for a long time and I know it's kind of wrong for me to like my sister best friend but every time I try to convince myself about it being wrong I just can't, and the other night at you place I wanted to tell you so bad but I just couldn't get the words out of my mouth and you listened so well to what I had to say, I want to know how you feel, please tell me" he said looking deep into my eyes

"John Luke... I like you too... I've liked you a lot for a long time but I just can't handle hurting Sadie, she doesn't even know I have a crush on you" I said tears began to form in my eyes

The first couple fireworks were in the air and before John Luke could say anything else he was leaning in and kissing me, his lips were so soft and warm against mine, it felt so nice but at the same time I knew it was so wrong, I pulled away, grabbed my purse and made my way towards my SUV, John Luke was calling after me, tears were falling down my face in hot steamy runs, the kiss felt so perfect but so wrong at the same time
