You all stared wide eyed at Tony. No one could believe their ears. Had Tony really just told Bucky to get out? Tony looked flustered. He tried to regain his cool.
"You heard me. Get out! You and your family aren't welcome here anymore. Be out of here before this time tomorrow." Tony glanced over at you and then headed for the elevator. Pepper ran after him and got in the elevator with him. She was trying to get him to rethink it all, but he was being stubborn and was yelling at her to shut up.
You couldn't believe it. You just stood there silently staring at the floor with James in your arms. How could he? You felt like crying. Where were the three of you supposed to go? Back to the 40s? If only. You both didn't have any family to go to. You were alone in the world with a son to raise. You didn't realize that small tears had begun to run down your face.
Everyone silently left your floor, leaving only you, Bucky, and Steve. The boys both remained silent, staring at you. Bucky looked over at Steve as a signal to leave the two of you (three if you include James) alone. Steve left, and Bucky still stood there staring at you. He racked his brain trying to remember what to do if you were sad. He did the first thing he could think of. He gave you a hug. Not a big bear hug like he would always give you, but a nice, gentle hug that was meant to be reassuring. As he stood there hugging you, he put his chin on top of your head. You melted into the hug and started to feel a little bit better, but then you remembered that you were all homeless, and the water works started up again, louder this time.
"Shhhh... It's ok, Doll. We'll think of something. Just calm down. You don't want James to see you cryin' do ya? There, that's it. Just calm down. It'll be alright. We'll find somewhere to live. Don't worry about it. I'll get us a nice house where we can raise James nice and proper. Hows that sound." He started to rub your back as he stood there talking. You definitely felt better.
"That sounds good, Buck. That sounds real nice." Bucky picked you up bridal style and took you into the bedroom. He laid you out on the bed and took James from you. A couple minutes later, he came back into the room. You were starting to grow sleepy. He wrapped his arm around your shoulders, and you snuggled up to his chest. "Buck?" He looked down at you.
"Yeah, Darlin'?" You snuggled closer to him.
"What'll the house look like? The house you're gonna get for James and I." He chuckled.
"What kinda a house do you want?"
"Well, I want a nice little house, but not too little, mind you. It needs to be the right size for the three of us..." Bucky cut you off.
