*Hi*

There wasn't much in Steve's mission prep room, but there was a radio and an armchair. You got out some of James' toys and put them on the floor for him to play with. You then sat down in the chair and fiddled with the old fashioned dials. They weren't very old fashioned to you though. You finally found a station playing older music and leaned back in the chair. A song by Frank Sinatra was playing, and you just quietly sat watching James play with his toys.

Although he was only about two and a half years old, James was already starting to look like his father. He definitely had inherited your nose, and you thought that you could see a slight hit of Bucky's jawline. You smiled. He was definitely going to be a heartbreaker.

After you had been sitting in the room watching James for about half an hour, there was a knock at the door. It was Thor. You stood up as he entered.

"(Y/N), I am so sorry for what has happened. It isn't fair that all of this torment has happened to you and your family. None of you deserve it. I wish that there was a way that I could fix everything that has happened to you, but I sadly cannot. If you ever need anything do not hesitate to contact me. I will come as quickly as I can. It is the least I can do to try to help make you, your husband, and your son's life better." You gave Thor a weak smile, trying your best to hold back some small tears that had found their way to the corners of your eyes.

"Thank you, Thor." was all you could say. You held your arms open for a hug, and a hug you got. After the bone crushing hug was over, you offered the chair to Thor, but he denied it, saying that, "It would be rude of me to rid a woman in your state of her seat. If you'll let me, I would rather play with James." You instantly agreed knowing that Thor was one of James' favorite uncles and playmates.

You sat talking to Thor while he played with James for about two hours. You had brought James' Lincoln Logs, blocks, Redwing, a ball that Steve had found at the grocery store with the shield on it, and some toy cars. Thor and James had spent much of the time playing with the cars and making ramps for the cars with the blocks.

While you were talking with Thor about how upsetting it was that Brooklyn lost the Dodgers to Los Angeles, and why that was such a bad decision, the door opened to reveal Fury. He walked into the room, and you and Thor stopped your conversation instantly.

"The men have arrived." said Fury. Your heart fluttered in a mixture of happiness and worry. Thor stood up and started to leave the room, saying that it would be best if he left, but you stopped him.

"Thor, can you take James with you?" Thor thought for a brief moment before he smiled and said that it would be his pleasure. He picked James up and said that he would take him down to the training room so that he could run around. You then focused your attention on Fury.

"I'm going to cut to the chase. You husband is alive, but he is disoriented." you nodded your head and stood up, expecting that Fury would take you down to see him, but Fury didn't move. "You will have to wait a little while longer to see your husband. The doctors are examining him right now. He is still unconscious, but is expected to wake up within the half hour. You nodded you head and walked over to the window in the room. You sighed.

"Can I please go and see him now? It has been such a long day, and I haven't seen him in so long, and I have been so afraid that he died, I just need to see him with my own eyes. I have to reassure myself that he is here, and that he will be ok. Every second that I am not by his side is a second where I feel like I could die. I have to see him. You may not understand, Sir, but when you are in love, it is painful to not be around the one you love. Sometimes it can be painful to be around them too, but when you feel pain when someone else is hurt, it shows how connected you are to that person, and how you can't live without them." Fury silently stared at you.

"Ok." was his answer, and he went over to the door. He held the door open and gestured for you to follow him. "Let's go."

Fury took you to an observation booth which was connected to the room where Bucky, Steve, Bruce, and various doctors a d nurses were. He spoke to a man who was standing by the door and headed back to his office. You headed through the room towards a door which led to the triage room, but a man stopped you.

"I'm sorry, Ma'am, but you can't go in there. S.H.I.E.L.D. personnel only." You stared wide eyed at the man who was keeping you from your husband.

"I'm sorry, but my husband is in there. He was injured on the mission, and I need to go to him."

"You can't, ma'am. I understand that Director Fury has given you clearance to go in, but it isn't the time for a hormonal woman to go in there and slow things down." That was the last straw.

"I don't care what you say. I have to go to him!"

"Mrs Barnes, he is unstable. You can't go in there right now!" You whipped your head to the right so that you could try to see the man who was yelling at you. It was hard to see him through the heavy tears that were falling from your eyes.

"Do you not see!? My husband needs me! Please! You are only hurting both us by not letting me go to him!"

"Agent Kowalski, how dare you ignore my direct order to allow Mrs. Barnes to see her husband." Yelled Fury as he quickly re- entered the observation booth. "Let her in there and pack your things. Your position here has been terminated as of now." Agent Kowalski tried to argue his point, but Fury wouldn't let him. He threw down his headset and clipboard and left the room. "(Y/N), you can go in now." said Fury. You nodded your head and went over to the door that let from the observation booth into the triage room. You opened the door and went in.

Many people were running around the room. Nurses (many of whom were trying to get their numbers) were tending to Steve and Bruce's small injuries. You saw a large mob in the middle of the room and heard yelling coming from it. You ran over. You elbowed your way to the middle and saw your husband lying wide eyed on a gurney.

"Why won't you tell me anything? Where am I? Where is (Y/N)?" He looked so frightened. You ran up to him and took his hand in yours. He instantly became happier and started to cry with you.

"I'm here, Buck. I'm here. Don't cry. Please don't cry." He sat up on the gurney, much to the dismay of the medical staff, and hugged you with all of his might.

"Oh, (Y/N)." he said into your hair. He pulled his head back, held your fave in his hands, and just stared at your face. "I missed you so much, dearest. I was gone for so long, and I'm so sorry. It will never happen again, I promise."

"It's ok, Bucky." was all you could say.

"They won't tell me anything, doll. Where are we? What happened?" you tried to answer him but he interrupted you with a question that broke your heart. "Why do I have a metal arm?"
