*I'm sorry about the picture. It's the only higher quality picture of just Bucky that I have on my iPod right now. I does not apply to the chapter though, so that's good!*

------------

You couldn't believe your ears.

"Doll, I have to go. Steve needs my help." You paced around the living room of the apartment.

"If Steve asked you to jump off of a cliff, would you listen to him? Oh wait, too late to ask you that question, because you did, more or less!" Bucky sighed.

"Doll, don't take your anger out on Steve. He isn't even here to defend himself." You calmed down.

"I know. It wasn't Steve's fault. It was Hydra's fault, but this will be the first time that you have been on a mission with Steve since you were captured. I just don't want it to happen again." Bucky walked over to you and took your hands in his.

"I'll be safe, you know that. May I have your permission to go kick some evil butt with my best friend?" You laughed.

"I guess, but just remember this. I'm not the only reason anymore for you to come home safe and sound. There's also your namesake/heir/offspring to come back to. Also, make sure that Steve comes home safely. I'd hate to loose Steve as a friend, and I'm sure that James would hate to loose his favorite uncle. I mean, his second word was 'Teve'. He's starting to have a lisp on his s's. It's adorable!" Bucky kissed your forehead.

"Don't worry. Steve and I'll come home safe and sound."

Packing for a secret mission isn't the easiest thing to do especially when you don't own the clothes to wear on one. Steve had already told Bucky that there were clothes ready for him at the tower. If you were wondering how Tony was taking the fact that Bucky was going to be at the tower, he wasn't very happy. Thankfully the mission only involved Steve, Bucky, and Bruce, so Tony wasn't going to have to deal with Bucky for very long.

"Are you sure that you have everything that you are going to need?" you asked Bucky while he finished putting his shirts into a duffel bag. He stood up straight and stretched.

"I think so. If I forget anything, I can probably pick up a replacement for it on the way." you nodded. You went and got James ready to go since you and James were being allowed to come and say goodbye to those leaving. James wasn't really very ecstatic about having to wake up in the small hours of the morning, but soon you had him sitting in his car seat drinking apple juice and hugging Redwing.

The majority of the drive to the tower was silent. All you could do was think about the "what ifs." What if Bucky gets killed? What if Steve does? What if they both do? What if something would happen to you and James while Bucky and Steve are gone? You tried to stop yourself from crying, but it was too late. Tears silently trickled down your face. Bucky happened to look at you just as you started to cry.

"Doll, what was the thing that I asked you not to do to make this whole thing easier for both of us?" He looked out of the driver side mirror to get himself to calm down. He wasn't going to let himself get emotional. He had to say strong in front of you and be the shoulder to cry on, not a sobbing mess. Also, Bucky was not going to let Steve see him with tear stained cheeks. That would have been a fatal blow to James Buchanan Barnes. You took a deep breath before speaking.

"You asked me not to cry." you said quietly. Bucky was about to respond when James butted into the conversation.

"Mama, Done." You turned around in your seat, and James was holding his empty Sippy cup out towards you. You smiled at him, wiping the tears off of your face. You took the Sippy cup from James and put it in one of the cup holders.

"How can you even risk leaving and possibly missing something momentous in James' life?"

"Doll..." Bucky said in a warning tone. He wasn't really enjoying your guilt trip comments.

"I know, I know. I need to stay positive. So, how about that weather? Or those Los Angeles Dodgers? Let me tell you, Buck. The Dodgers were stolen from us. It is an injustice to those of us who loved then when they were home. They'll always be from Brooklyn to me." Bucky laughed as James attempted to say 'Brooklyn.'

"Booklyn." It was a very cute attempt

"Good, Jamesy!" Said Bucky looking at him from the rear view mirror. "Can you say 'Dodgers' too?" James sat thinking for a moment.

"Doders." Bucky laughed again.

"Good!" he looked over at you, smiling. "If anyone ever tries to convince me that there is anything cuter than children, I will laugh in their face because it isn't true." You smiled at him. He was always so happy when he was playing with James or talking about him. He was a proud father, and you were a proud mother. Together you were a proud set of parents who loved your son.

---------------------

On arriving at the tower, Tony made you, Bucky, and James go through a metal detector. Of course, the thing had an alarm that sounded like a fire truck alarm, and of course it went off when Bucky went through because of his arm. James started to cry from the noise. You held him to you and tried to get him to calm down while Tony was trying to get the thing to turn off. Bucky came over and helped you cheer James up. He took James from you and stood there tickling him and making funny faces at him. James was soon happy since Bucky had brought out the big gun. A piggy back ride. He ran around the living room of the rower with James on his back, both of them laughing their heads off.

When the alarm finally turned off, Bucky was out of breath. He ran back over to you, and you took James back from him. Steve and Clint had walked in when the alarm was going off, and Steve was currently yelling at Tony for making the three of you go through a metal detector. You turned to Becky.

"How long will it be until you get back?" Bucky shrugged his shoulders. Clint, being bored of Steve and Tony came over to you three.

"Steve didn't say. It shouldn't be too long. I'll get word to you as soon as I can."

"It'll be so weird being alone at the apartment with James." Bucky hadn't thought about that. You would be alone with your two year old son. If Steve wasn't going on the mission, Bucky would have asked him to stay with you.

"I could always stay with you." said Clint. You and Bucky turned to look at him.

"You would do that, Clint?" you asked.

"Yeah. All I need is food, and I'll be happy. Oh, tv too. And a bathroom. And before you get worried, Barnes, I'll sleep on he couch. (Y\N) and James will be perfectly safe." Bucky didn't look completely sold on the idea.

"What do you say, Buck? Can I have a sleepover with Clint?"
