I Need to Ask You Something...

Part 10

Halfway through the book/the trilogy!!!

After sitting around and talking for a while, waiting for Bruce to find the file, you and the Avengers (minus Tony) decided to have lunch. You and Natasha led the group into the kitchen to decide what to make for lunch. Since Tony hadn't been there to remind everyone about getting more food, and since everyone was giving Jarvis a bit of a vacation, there wasn't much to choose from. You all searched through the cabinets trying to find anything edible. You all put your finds on the countertop.

Steve had found a jar of peanut butter, Natasha had found half a head of lettuce, you had found a gallon of milk, and Thor found a single waffle with a bit taken out of it (Clint claimed it as his and stuffed it in his mouth). You all stared at the small pile, then at each other.

"Well," said Steve, "I guess we'll have to order out. Who wants shwarma?" You all agreed that that sounded good. Steve called for Jarvis' attention.

"Yes, Captain Rogers?" said Jarvis.

"Jarvis, can you get enough shwarma for the 6 of us and have it delivered?" asked Steve.

"Of course, Sir. Would you like it only for the six of you? Mr. Barnes is in the elevator coming up here. Would you like me to get him some too?" You looked surprised.

"Yeah, go ahead and get him some too." said Steve.

"Very well. It should be here in about half an hour, if my data bank serves me right. I shall alert you when it arrives." You walked over towards the elevator. Bruce walked back into the room.

"I wonder why Bucky is here? He would have barely had any time to go to the nursing home." You then heard the elevator coming to a stop at the floor you were all on.

The elevator doors opened to reveal a disheveled looking Bucky holding James with tears running down his face. Bucky put James down, and he toddled over to you. Bucky came out of the elevator as well and walked towards you. You told James to go to his uncle Steve. As soon as Bucky got close to you, he started to cry even more heavily. You wrapped your arms around his neck, and he wrapped his arms around your waist, burying his fave in you neck. The two of you stood there for a few moments. You were trying to calm Bucky down and get him to tell you what the problem was. Bucky just couldn't stop crying long enough to talk. You released him from the hug, taking his hand in yours. You looked at Steve.

"Steve, can we go up to our old floor so we can be alone?" Steve nodded his head, looked down at James who stood hugging his leg, and picked him up.

"I'll watch James for you two." he said. You nodded and led Bucky over to the elevator. You clicked the button for your old floor, and the doors closed. Bucky just stood there sniffling and staring at the doors of the elevator. When the doors opened, you led him over to the couches which were still in the same place they had been before. Bucky sat down on one, and you sat cross legged facing him.

"Bucky, what happened?" He just shook his head.

"She's gone." He said quietly. You instantly understood his pain. He meant Rebecca. You wrapped your arms around his shoulders. He just sat staring at his hands.

"Buck, I'm so sorry." He just nodded, still sniffling a little.

Meanwhile in Chile, Tony and Pepper had been relaxing on the beach when Tony's phone started to make loud noises. He picked it up off the table next to his chair and cursed. Pepper looked over at him surprised.

"What is it, Tony?" asked Pepper sitting up, watching Tony stand up and storm towards his beach house. He turned around and glared at her.

"I should have known that this would happen!" He yelled, causing Pepper to jump. "Of course when I'm gone, Winter decides to infiltrate my house. I'm going to New York. Don't expect me to be back for dinner." With that Tony headed into the house, initiated lockdown on your old floor, put on one of his suits, and headed for the tower.
