Matthew began to have second thoughts as he approached the prearranged place where he would meet Abigail, his new ally. He began to wonder whether or not the alliance was even worth it and if he was just endangering his life for no particular reason. He shook his head, he'd never second-guessed himself before, he refused start now. Abigail was waiting for him, meditating on top of a snowy hill. Matthew noticed with disdain that Abigail had left very obvious tracks in the snow for an enemy to follow. He steeled himself and called out to her.
"Abigail, we have to leave. Thanks to your incompetency this position is compromised." Abigail calmly opened her eyes.
"I was setting a trap for anyone who would dare follow me." She replied coolly. Matthew began to advance angrily.
"And just where might this trap be my foolish little-"
Matthew was cut short as the ground beneath him have way to a massive pit cleverly concealed by loose packed snow. Abigail peered down at him from outside the cavern.
"Oh, it seems you've found it." Abigail extended a hand and pulled Matthew out of the pit. Matthew brushed snow off his thick coat and scowled at Abigail.
"We don't have time for this nonsense!" Matthew shouted, sounding thoroughly flustered, "What we should do is double back to the weapons cache and stock up on supplies!" Abigail nodded in agreement. With that, Matthew and Abigail set off towards the cache. When they arrived half an hour later though, they realized that the cache was already occupied. Kelsey was there, and she has already set up shop. Mere seconds after Abigail and Matthew stepped into the field surrounding the cache, an expertly thrown javelin came flying through the air. Matthew shoved Abigail out of the way just in time. The javelin landed directly where she had been standing half a second before. Matthew and Abigail scrambled to find cover as another javelin barley missed them.
"We should split up!" Matthew whispered urgently to Abigail. "I'm a smaller target, so I'll keep her attention at the front. You sneak around back and end her." Abigail nodded in agreement and sprinted off at an asked path that would lead her to the back end of the cache. Matthew sprinted the opposite direction and began to run towards Kelsey. Two more javelins were thrown at him and he dodged them both skillfully. Suddenly, another javelin came from much closer and speared his leg. The javelin went straight into his calf and came out the other end, pinning him to the ground. Kelsey had used the two javelins she threw earlier to buy her time to rush forward and close the distance between her and her target. Now, Matthew was at her mercy. She laughed and advanced towards him. "Matthew, you damaged my acting career very heavily while you were in charge of PVC. You canceled many of my movies and even censored some of my songs." She drew another javelin from the massive quiver in her back. "Now," she said, relishing the moment, "I'm gonna kill you." Matthew closed his eyes as she brought the weapon down at his throat. A scream of pain tore through the air; but it wasn't his. Matthew opened his eyes, confused. Kelsey was lying on the ground, whimpering in pain with Abigail standing over her. Abigail had broken both of Kelsey's legs with a heavy chain she found in the cache.
"About time." Matthew grunted. "Get this javelin out of my leg!" He said, gesturing at his impaled calf. Abigail grabbed the spear's shaft and, quickly and calmly, ripped it out of Matthew's leg. This time, it was his scream that disturbed the silence. Abigail helped him up and he leaned on her for support. Glancing around, he spotted Kelsey attempting to crawl away. He, with Abigail's assistance, limped over to Kelsey. "Kelsey," he said slowly, gritting his teeth in pain. "You have caused me more pain than any individual alive." He paused, picking up the broken javelin Abigail had pulled out of him. "For this, I sentence you to death." With this, he brought the javelin down hard right in between Kelsey's shoulders, cleanly impaling her. Her twitching and writhing stopped immediately as the life drained out of her. Matthew stares down at her body for a few seconds, and then he and Abigail staggered off towards the mountains to nurse his wounds.
