"Why are we back here?" Kira asked, struggling to keep pace with Nate's long strides. Nate continued walking, ignoring her. Kira huffed loudly and followed him. They had returned to the clearing directly in front of the weapons cache, the place where Kelsey was killed. Her body was still there, but something was amiss.
"What the heck?" Kira wondered aloud, "why is her body still in perfect condition? It hasn't decomposed at all."
Nate nodded, smiling over his shoulder.
"Just as I suspected, the pressurized atmosphere in here required for temperature control doesn't allow for any form of foreign bacteria to enter into the arena." Kira paused,
"So, are we meeting someone here or what?" She asked, growing annoyed.
Nate's smile widened.
"She's already here." He said, gesturing at Kelsey's body. Kira raised an eyebrow, thoroughly confused.
"So did you come for motivation or are you like, a necrophiliac or something?"
Nate chuckled,
"Ha, nothing so creepy no. Hand me Vinny's serum will you?" Kira reached into her pack and pulled out the glowing vial. She handed it to Nate, still mystified as to what he planned to do. Nate pulled a syringe and needle from his pack, and drew all the serum from the tube. Then, as Kira watched in amazement, he plunged it into Kelsey's corpse and pushed the plunger.
"What did you do?!" Kira shouted, "you just wasted our most valuable asset on a corpse!" Nate chuckled and threw the vial aside.
"You are mistaken my dear." He said, as though speaking to a naughty child, "this corpse is our most valuable asset."
As he said this, the serum took hold, prompting rapid tissue regeneration. After about 5 minutes of silence, broken only by the occasional squelching sound of muscles reforming, Kelsey's body was once again in peak condition.
"Impressive," Kira admitted, "but she's still dead. You'd need-"
"A jumpstart?" Nate cut in, pulling a glove over his left hand and cutting open Kelsey's shirt to expose her stomach. Comprehension dawned on Kira right as Nate powered up Vinny's electric glove and pressed it down on Kelsey's skin. Her body jolted and her eyes shot open. Her whole body tensed, prepared to strangle the people standing over her, but then her eyes settled on Nate. She grinned.
"What took you so long? I've been dead for like three days!"
