Kira was greeted by a sharp rasping sound as she walked into the clearing where she was to meet Zeth. Zeth, her constant source of terror, was sitting on a log sharpening his hatchet against a rock, producing the rasping sound that now grated on her nerves. She cleared her throat and Zeth glanced up at her.
"So," he said calmly, "what news do you bring?" Kira gulped and started in a shaky voice,
"W-well, there actually isn't much to report." Zeth cocked his head, and grinned.
"Is this what's it's come to?" He asked, drawing himself up to full height. "You've been my spy for two days and you're already feeding me bad info."
"Well, actually I-" Kira's comment was cut short by a punch in the gut. Zeth's fist hit her like a rabid hog charging into her torso. She doubled over, wheezing for breath.
"I know Kelsey is alive." Zeth said, looming over Kira like a death threat. "I know you failed me." Kira spat out some blood and asked through gritted teeth the question she'd been dreading,
"Are you gonna kill me?" She winced as she spoke.
"Well, yes." Zeth said, kneeling down to Kira's eye level, "but I'm going to enjoy myself while doing it. We have all the time in the world my dear, there's no need to rush things." Kira paled under the layers of sweat and dirt that covered her face, she had expected a sharp pain between the shoulders and a quick trip to the afterlife, not slow torture! Zeth drew his hatchet and dragged it down Kira's arm, releasing a stream of blood.
"Let's begin." He said with a smile. His smile turned to confusion as large, tanned hands wrapped around his neck. Zeth bucked and kicked, but the large hands dragged him to his feet and began to pull at his neck. Zeth had dropped his hatchet in the panic, and now struggled to reclaim it. The hands held fast though, and with a fluid motion and a snap like the world's largest glow stick, Zeth's head was turned 360 degrees around. Zeth fell to the ground, sightless eyes staring into the distance. Kira, who had been crawling towards the safety of the forest, turned at the sound of the snap and was shocked to find her tormentor dead. She coughed up more blood. Zeth's killer turned to look at her, her vision was clouding over from pain, blood loss, and exhaustion; and she was barley able to identify her savior before succumbing to the comforts of unconsciousness. She did identify him though, and even through her stupor she felt a tinge of fear. Her rescuer was Eduardo, and she didn't know wether to be grateful, or scared.
