Kira moaned groggily as she was roughly shaken awake. She opened one eye and saw a blurry figure standing over her. She jumped backwards and unsheathed her sword with one hand while desperately trying to rub the sleep out of her eyes with the other hand.
"Hey! Clam down!" The figure shouted. Cookie shook her head and the figure came into view. She breathed a sigh of relief and lowered her sword; it was just Vinny.
"Why'd you wake me up?" She mumbled grumpily.
"Nate says we have to move out." Vinny said, nodding towards the third member of their party. Nate was dressed back in his trademark suit and was busy rolling up his sleeping bag and packing his possessions.
"Why?" Kira demanded angrily. Vinny shrugged. Kira huffed and stomped over to Nate. He looked up as she was approaching.
"Oh hello, I was wondering when you'd wake up." He flashes her a quick smile. She sent a scowl back. "Why are we moving! I liked it here! I mean, sure the ground is a little hard and the rocks are kind of sharp and it's cold, and we're pretty exposed and..." Kira trailed off as Nate raised his eyebrows at her. "Okay so maybe it's not the best place." She conceded, "but where are we gonna go?" Nate smiled again.
"Don't you worry my dear." He said, standing up and patting her on the back. "Everything is going according to plan." Kira mumbled some profanity and went off to pack up.
After about fifteen minutes of walking, the trio came into the clearing where the weapons cache was located. Nate ordered Kira to watch their backs while he and Vinny went through the weapons. Kira grumbled and grudging agreed to follow Nate's command.
As Kira paced around the clearing, sword drawn and ready, Nate and Vinny advanced on the weapons cache.
"You think we'll find anything good?" Vinny asked, struggling to keep pace with Nate's long strides. Nate raised an eyebrow,
"Would I have brought us down here if I didn't think there would be anything left?" Vinny looked down sheepishly.
"Oh, yeah sorry. It's just that-" Vinny cut off mid-sentence when he spotted the impaled corpse up ahead. Nate had already jogged to the corpse and was inspecting the body.
"Who is it?" Vinny asked as he walked over. Nate held up a hand to stop him.
"It's Kelsey," he said, through gritted teeth. He looked up at Vinny with a hard gaze, then turned his eyes to a set of tracks leading away from the body. "I'm gonna find who did this. Get Kira, we're leaving." Vinny set off after Kira as Nate began to follow the tracks. Nate's pulse pounded, this wasn't part of his plan; this was imperfection. Nate can't stand imperfection. He will stomp it out.
