Nate peaked into the clearing where the slaughter had taken place. He saw the corpses of Abigail, Vinny and Kira. He slid down a hill to reach the clearing and began to search the bodies. When he arrived, Kira stood up! Nate jumped back in shock. He struggled to regained his composure, "how are you still alive!?" He asked, wide-eyed. Kira smiled,
"I wounded Zeth pretty badly and he ran off." Nate looked at her skeptically. "It's true!" Kira insisted, "don't underestimate me." She turned away before speaking again. "So... What's the plan? Vinny's dead and Kelsey has been avenged. What now?" Nate shrugged.
"I'm just taking things one step at a time." He said, "currently, the next step is to search these bodies." He plodded over to Vinny. "I'll search Vinny, you shake down Abigail okay?" Kira nodded and moved over to Abigail's corpse. She turned out all of Abigail's pockets and found nothing, she checked Abigail's shoulders and hips for weapons but found none. Kira was about to call it quits when she remembered Abigail's boot daggers. She searched the boots and pulled out two matching combat daggers. She put them into her belt next to her sword. She walked back over to Nate.
"Anything?" She asked. Nate looked at her, grinning widely.
"Vinny is a genius!" He yelled, "a pure and utter genius!" He jumped into the air and began to dance around. Kira raised her eyebrows in confusion. Nate slid over to her and triumphantly showed her the prize he had scored. It was a glowing vial containing some sort of medication.
"Vinny's regeneration serum?!" Kira gasped in wonder, "but how? Didn't Matthew use it all?" Nate smiled,
"This is where Vinny's genius is shown. He expected me to steal his serum for my own use, so, rather than trying to hide it, Vinny just split the medicine between two vials; knowing that I would find the first one and assume that was all there was!" Nate looked down at Vinny's body and smiled. "You truly are a genius Vinny; But there is still one more gift you can give." Nate reached down and pulled Vinny's electric gloves off. He stuffed them into his pack and turned away from the clearing. "We're leaving." He announced. Kira walked over to his side.
"Where are we gonna go?" She asked, "No place is safe." Nate nodded.
"We need an ally." He paused and glanced down at the serum and the gloves. "And I know just where to get one."
