First period was fine, we had to find a person we didn't know much about and have a ten minute conversation. I saw the new kid. He was a transfer student from Germany, his name was Leo. I decided to have my conversation with him. It went something like this:
"Hi, I'm Sarah S. Takani, but you can just call me Sarah."
He looked at me as if he was confused. "Okay, but what does the "S." stand for?"
I smiled at him, "Who wants to know?"
He looked down quickly, "Sorry, that was rude. I'm Leo Celest." I stared at him for a minute until he looked back up and said, "So, what does the "S." stand for?"
I smiled again, "It's Secret."
He looked at me funny, "Secret? So, you're telling me "S." stands for "Secret" or the meaning of "S." is a secret?"
He seemed very confused and he was beginning to confuse me. " "S." Stands for Secret."
He laughed a little, "Oh, okay! I love your middle name, may I call you that instead of Sarah?"
Nobody had ever asked me that before, so I wasn't sure what to tell him. He looked at me, patiently waiting for an answer. I suddenly found myself answering him, "Yeah sure. Why not? You can call me Secret."
He smiled big and said, "Alright, from now on you're my Secret." I stared at him slightly shocked. He was the first person other than my dad to ever call me that. He noticed my surprise and looked at me with concern, "I'm sorry, did I cross a boundary?" His sudden concern made me laugh.
"No, you just reminded me of my dad for a second"
He laughed a little, "How so?" Right before I was able to tell him, the bell rang. I quickly gathered up my stuff and walked over to Milly's desk.
"Milly, I just met the cutest guy ever!"
She looked at me and smiled, "Really? Was it the guy that you chose to have your conversation with?"
I smiled even bigger, "Yes! His name is Leo Celest. He's the transfer student from Germany, have you seen him? What do you think? Don't you think he's just gorgeous?!" I covered my mouth after yelling and Mr. Murphy, the teacher, told us to he to our next class.
Milly and I started walking and she pulled Leo in front of us. I didn't notice that had followed me. "Sarah, Leo is my cousin. I'm pretty sure he heard everything you just said too."
I stared at the two of them, completely shocked. "YOUR COUSIN?!"
Leo smiled, "Yeah, I'm her cousin." I started walking again, not wanting to be late for class. Milly and Leo followed, but Leo stepped in front of me again. "Didn't Milly tell you about me?"
I looked at him, "Shouldn't you be going to class?"
I tried to step around him but, again, he moved back in front of me. "Yeah, I have science, same as Milly and I'm guessing same as you. Now, answer my question."
This didn't seem like the Leo that I had met not fifteen minutes earlier. He acted more like a predator. He watched me closely, and he was staring to scare me. Suddenly I remembered, "Yeah Leo, she told me about you. She just never mentioned your name. Right, Milly?"
She looked at me and hesitantly answered, "Yeah. Remember when I told you about him playing baseball?"
"Oh yeah, he played for his school, right?" Milly gave me a look. Uh-oh, wrong answer. "Wait, he wanted to play for his school but he got stuck with optimist."
Milly gave me a small smile, hopefully Leo didn't notice. I didn't think he did, he just smiled at me. Okay Secret, I believe you."
I let out a small sigh of relief, "Thanks Leo." All three of us walked into the science room just in time for the tardy bell to ring. Once we got inside, the teacher started assigning seats. Luckily, I got a seat in the back where nobody else was sitting. I was free to work on my drawings. I pulled my sketchbook out, opened it to a clean page, and thought of what to draw. I thought about my feelings for the beginning of the day. They all seemed dark so I drew a full moon on the paper and lightly shaded it. Next, I free tree branches moving inward in the paper.
I stopped for a moment to think of what to draw next when somebody walked through the door. I looked up and my eyes met with the same cool blue eyes from earlier that morning. Why was he in this class? A couple of girls giggled as he walked past them to speak to the teacher. I looked back down at my drawing to figure out what was missing, I began to draw a raven in one of the branches when I heard a voice beside me. "Hey Crimson, how's it goin'?"
I set my pencil down and glared up at Rogue, "Don't you ever call me Crimson again."
I was holding my glare when he smiled, "Why not, Crimson?" He added emphasis to the name. Before I was able to answer, our teacher told us to be quiet and get to work. Rogue looked at me coldly, and I got a chill. He sat right next to me and reached across the isle, taking my sketchbook off of my desk. I pretended not to notice until he started to look through my drawings.
He stopped on one of the pages and held it up so I could see what was on it. On the paper, there was a dark crimson rose wrapped in barbed wire. It was the only drawing that I had signed "Crimson". I had tried to forget about that one drawing, but I couldn't get rid of it. The meaning of crimson is part of a group Rogue and I were in during middle school. My code name was Crimson, and naturally, his was Rogue. The group name was Fear, as stupid as it sounds, it wasn't exactly the safest group so I left.
I was lost in thought when the sound of the teachers voice announced that there would be free time for the rest of class. Rogue moved back across the isle and sat on my desk, my sketchbook still open for one drawing. He smirked at me, "So Crimson, you still remember your sign."
I reached up for my sketchbook, "Yeah, what's it to you?"
I got within an inch of it before he pulled it back. "Well, the thing is that it doesn't matter at all. You are no longer a member of fear, so there is no reason for you to have a sign. Therefore, you don't need this picture."
I stopped reaching for my sketchbook and walked over to where Milly and Leo were sitting. Milly smiled at me, "Ooh, I'm so jealous! You get to sit by Rogue!" I just looked at her dully. Leo noticed the look I was giving Milly and asked what was wrong. I just sad down silently. Milly's smile faded, "Oh Sarah, not again..."
I looked down at the desk, not saying anything. Leo looked from me to Milly, "Not again for what?"
Milly turned to Leo, "Someone took her sketchbook."
Leo just looked confused, "Her sketchbook? What's so important about that?"
I glared at Leo, trying to keep my voice quiet. "You want to know what's important about my sketchbook, Leo? The important thing about it is that it's like my journal. I draw according to my feelings."
Leo still looked confused and Milly asked who took it. "Who do you think took it?" I pointed at Rogue. "I swear he moved back here just to torment me!" Milly sighed and walked over to Rogue, leaving me alone with Leo. I looked him straight in the eyes, "What the hell do you want?"
He just smiled and said, "I only want to know my Secret's secrets. I know they're there. Some good, and many bad secrets. Do you want to tell me your secrets?" It was all I could do not to slap him. From what I could tell, something wasn't right about him.
"No, not really. My secrets are mine to keep." He started to say something in protest, but Milly came back and set my sketchbook down on the desk. I smiled at her, "how did you get it back?"
She smiled back, "I have my ways."
"Well, thanks." I opened the sketchbook and went through the pictures until I found my "sign". I ripped it out and put it in the trashcan on my way out of the classroom when the bell rang.

Holy crap, that was a long chapter! Well... Long to type on a phone. Oh well! I hope you enjoy. I'm going to try and make my deadline by every Saturday. It's hard to type at school without teachers thinking I'm texting. The first few chapters are mainly to introduce people and stuff... It'll start moving faster soon, I swear! Just please be patient and I'll try my best. Thanks!
