"Okay ma'am, what's the problem today?" I looked around startled, almost forgetting about the doctor.
"My hand is broken." He gave me a funny look.
"It doesn't look broken to me. Is this supposed to be some kind of a joke?"
"Um... I don't think it's a joke." I lifted my hand to show him. "See, it's – huh?!" I had to look twice to make sure I wasn't seeing things, or if my hand was back to normal.
"It's what? All I see is a hand, and a perfectly healthy one at that."
I looked down and feeling embarrassed and confused. "Sorry for wasting your time, I'll leave now." I started towards the door, but he stopped me.
"If you aren't going anywhere without a parent. How can I contact them?"
I left a little, "you can only contact them if A) you die or B) you have an ouija board." I smirked, smirked, "From what I can see, you're out of luck on both accounts. If you'd like I could easily arrange the first one to become a possibility if you don't let me leave." He watched me for a couple of seconds, like he was trying to decide if I was serious or not.
He had a gourd the desk. "I'm calling security."
"Why are doctors so annoying? I wish that you would just stop!" The next thing I knew, the desk flew forward and lands on top of the doctor, pinning him to the ground. He started yell, struggling and yelling for help. I didn't know what to do, so I grabbed my stuff and headed toward the door. "Sorry, that seems like a personal problem. Anyway, I'm a busy person, I've got places to go so I'm going to go now." Open the door and started running down the hall. I got halfway to the door exiting to the lobby when I ran right into Jay.
He got me by the shoulders to make me stop. "Why are you running? Did something happen?"
Shook my head and kind of smiled. "Nope, nothing at all. I'm just excited to leave."
He glanced behind me. "Are you sure it's not the security guard behind you?" I felt my heart jump in my chest as I looked behind me, but nobody was there. "So, something did happen back there."
I rolled my eyes and started walking toward the exit. "Let's just get out of here, I'll explain in the car." He followed me out to the lobby.
"All right, Rogue is already out in the car. It looks like I'm going to have two great stories in one night."
"Yeah..." I thought. "Great stories." I took a deep breath, taking in the scent of disinfectants and the slight scent of paint. "They must have repainted the lobby recently." I said out loud.
"What?"
"Nothing." I followed him out and took in the night air. It had to be at least eleven.
"I almost forgot to ask, "Jay started. "What happened to your hand? I thought it was broken."
I looked down. "Well, I guess it wasn't. I must've just bruised it." I lied, but I had to buy some time until I could fully explain what was going on without him freaking out, and asking questions I didn't know how to answer. By the time we got to the car we had settled into an uncomfortable silence. Jay was almost relieved when Rogue jumped off the top of the car and tackled. I watched as they both topics for the ground with a loud good, and I couldn't stop myself from laughing. They looked up at me from the ground.
"Hey Sarah, it's great to hear your laugh again." Rogue stood up and smiled at me.
"Maybe you should give me more to laugh about then." I grinned at him, and Jay stood up.
"Both of you have to tell me what's going on. Starting with why you got kicked out of the hospital."
Rogue and I both started talking at the same time. After a few words row stopped and gave me an incredulous look. "You got kicked out of the hospital?!" I kind of laugh a little.
"Yeah..."
He kept staring at me. "How did you do it?"
"I kind of threw a desk at the doctor."
"You what?!" Both Rogue and Jay said at the same time.
I didn't know what to say so I just pointed at Rogue, "Well, you got kicked out to! What did you do??"
He looked around and seemed awkward. "I... um... I flipped up one of the nurse's skirt."
I looked at him, speechlessly. Jay grinned, "That's my little brother. Now let's get you home. Sarah, your aunt must be worried."
"Yeah, let's go." We all got into the car and pulled out of the parking lot. After about 10 minutes I fell asleep feeling comfortable in the warmth of the car, between Jay in the window. I woke up as we were turning down my street in my neighborhood. Rogue was leaning against me, and was asleep. I tried not to move so I wouldn't wake him but Jay solved that problem for me.
"Okay lovers, Sarah has to go now!"
Rogue awoke with a jolt. "What?!"
Jay pulled the car over to the side of the road right outside my house. "Nothing, I just said Sarah has to go now." He shifted the car into park, and unlocked the doors.
"Thanks for the ride." I got out of the car and Rogue followed me.
"So, I'll see you tomorrow right?"
I smiled, "Yeah."
He moved closer to me and tried to hug me, but I turned and started walking away. "See you tomorrow." I stepped up on the porch and opened my door. I went inside without even looking back. This would be the first time ever I looked forward to school. I lied down on the couch and fell into a deep and dreamless sleep.
