I had made it out of the woods and was walking home. It was starting to get cold, I was halfway home when I heard something move behind me. I froze up and stood silently, listening to my surroundings.
After a few moments of listening but hearing nothing I dismissed the sound as a cat or some other stray animal. I pulled my jacket closer to my body and kept walking. I heard the noise again and the hair on the back of my neck began to stand on end. Somebody or something was following me. The question was, why? I walked past some windows, hoping to see at least a shadow or reflection behind me. I wish I hadn't.
It the window, I saw the familiar reflection of Leo standing less than two feet behind me. He didn't seem to notice me looking at the window, so I pretended that I didn't see him and I continued walking. I carefully pulled out my phone texted Rogue, "Walking the usual way. Help!" Just as I sent the text, my phone died. Hopefully, Rogue got the message.
There was a sudden gust of wind and my jacket flipped open again. I was going to zip it up but before I had the chance to I heard somebody yell, and
fall to the ground behind me. Startled, I turned and looked behind me and saw a Rogue on top of Leo, and Leo trying to get away. He had flipped himself over and was looking at Rogue. Rogue was the first to speak. "Why are you following Sarah?!", He spat the words as if they were poison. Leo just lied there glaring up at Rogue defiantly. "One more time," Rogue grabbed the edge of Leo's jacket and shook him violently, "Why were you following Sarah?"Leo smiled slightly, "I just wanted to talk to her about today." He turned his head to look at me, and a smile problem. "So, what happened in the girls locker room? What did happen to have been something amazing and supernaturally inclined to be dangerous to your 'normal life'?" I didn't reply, all I could do was stand there silently watching. I wasn't expecting Rogue to show up so soon. It was almost as if he was following me too. "Well?! I'm talking to you Secret! It's not polite to ignore people you know!" Leo was fighting furiously now, trying to get out from under Rogue, but Rogue had him pinned to the ground. I almost said something but I heard something break behind me, I spun around as fast as I could only to see it is been somebody's cats knocking a planter off of a balcony. Before I knew it, the houselights clicked on and the owner flung the door open. He looked startled to see two teenage boys fighting in the street, with a wild-eyed girl looking at his house. I know I would have.
The man got over his shot pretty quickly, and he ran out of his house and started yelling, "Stop fighting right now! This isn't the old west, so you can't just brawl in the street as you like!" Rogue's face went blank. I knew that look, he was about the something stupid.
I was right. "Just one more thing." He made his hand into a fist and punch Leo's face. As he connected I heard a slight crack, the sound made my stomach coil. Rogue stood up and I looked down at Leo, and I saw what made the sound sound. He was unconscious, and his nose was pushed awkwardly off to the side. I heard the man gasp as Rogue began to walk towards me.
I turned and gave him a funny look, "Are you scared or something?"
The man glared at me in return, "No, I'm not scared."
"Oh really", I thought. I locked eyes with him. "Then tell me, why did you gasp?"
"I didn't gas. I-I have allergies. anyway, I can call the cops right now." He began to back away towards his house.
"Sir, please don't. There's no reason to –"
Rogue cut me short. "Go ahead and call the police. They can hear the reason I hit him." He was speaking so quietly I could barely hear him.
"And what was that reason be?" The man raised an eyebrow at him.
Roasted straight and look like he was about to lose his temper. I was in surprised when his voice was quick and harsh. "I had told that punk to stay away from my girl, or I would not can senseless. He just didn't listen to my warning!" I was shocked, Rupert called me his girl. I could feel my face heating up. "He's been stocking her, I even have proof." Rogue pulled out his phone and opened it up to the last message that he had received. He held it out so that the man could see, and he read it out loud. "Walking the usual way. Help."
The man seem to of calm down. "I see but can the young lady verify this?"
I looked up at Rogue, giving him a confused look. "Go ahead Crimson, it's all right." Rogue offered encouraging smile that made me notice that I had been holding my breath. I started to get dizzy, and everything started to get dark. "Crimson?! Are you OK??"
Rogue sounded panicked so I tried to tell him I was okay, "–'m... Fine..." The last thing I saw before I collapsed to the ground was Rogue's hands trying to catch me. Before my world black I heard the man yelling asking if I was OK. Before I passed out all of been forgotten, and all attention was on me. When I hit the ground I heard a snap, but all my pain was taken over by darkness.
