Chapter 15: Halloween Dance.

6:00pm- An hour before the Halloween Dance

Lily has been pretty devastated after I told her about what Snape said. I told her to keep her head high and forget about him. Hearing that word from Severus' mouth is unforgivable. 

The girls and I got ready. They looked beautiful. Potter and Lupin better take care of them. I was about to walk out of the room to be early for the set up, but Opal stopped me.

"Uh, where are you going?" she asked me.
"To the Great Hall. I have to be ready before everyone gets there." I said, in a matter-of-factly tone.
"Oh, no you're not. You need make-up and to do your hair." I rolled my eyes, but I let them help me. Eventually, at 6:30 p.m., we were done (picture). I waved good-bye to them and they wished me luck. I hoped no one would see me as I walked over there, and I was quite fortunate. The headmaster told me he will announce my appearance without mentioning my name before I went backstage. I kept checking the time and when it was 7:00p.m., I heard people coming in. This led to panicking, pacing around the room and attempts to calm myself down. About ten minutes passed until the headmaster told me that everyone was here. I looked out of the curtain just a bit, spotting my friends with their dates. I saw Black with 'Angel' Vare, who was wearing a short purple dress. The boys were wearing dress suits (picture next chapter). 

The headmaster went out to the stage. Everyone stopped their chatter and looked at him.

"Everyone, settle down. Thank you. Today, someone from Hogwarts will be providing music for you. She won't herself until the end of the third song, however. The songs are 'Faster than Boys', 'Here's to Us', and 'Because of You.' Here is 'Faster than Boys' and enjoy the dance, everyone!" He finished and everyone began clapping. I walked out to the stage, breathing heavily. I noticed everyone looking at me in surprise. I stood facing the audience, my mask protecting me. This is it.
I began my first song. 

"Can I have a map? I'm getting lost in your eyes. That's the first thing you said. And when I looked up, yeah it was no surprise, so much hair gel was applied to your head." I saw Sirius look up at me through the corner of my eye when I sang that. I got so into the song and when I finished, I heard applause. I smiled, feeling more confident about myself. (Faster than Boys and Here's To Us are by Victoria Justice and Because of You is by Kelly Clarkson)

I began my next song. "Here's to the Mondays, watching all the cars on the freeway. I ain't got a thing to do, can I sit here next to you? And oh, oh, oh." I sang.

Opal's P.O.V.
Yay! Saph is singing! She is so good.

Sirius's P.O.V.
I wonder who she is. Beautiful and sings amazing. Not knowing will drive me crazy...I wonder where Evergeek is.

Lily's P.O.V.
Saph is amazing. I am so proud of her for gathering up this confidence!!

James's P.O.V.
I'm still so confused about Lily actually going with me to the dance!! I wonder who the singer is.

Lupin's P.O.V.
This is great, the music and my date. All of it. 

Angel's P.O.V.
Who is the girl?! Sirius is staring at her and he isn't dancing with me. UGH! What does she have that I don't besides being able to sing?

Sapphire's P.O.V. 
        I finished that second song. I began the third one, where I'll reveal myself. I took another breath. I began the third song.
I sang until I got to the bridge. "And now I cry in the middle of the night. For the same damn THING!" Stretching that last word, I untied the mask, letting it fall to the floor. I heard gasps and I continued singing, softer. My eyes locked with Black's. It was as if I was singing, but I wasn't thinking about it. I finished "Because of you" I pointed to the direction of the Marauders. "Ooh." I took a breath. "Hi." I said. "I'm Sapphire. Sapphire Evergreen." I waved, awkwardly. Everything was silent. I was about to leave the stage when Lily and Opal began clapping. Everyone else began, too. I looked at the Marauders. They were reluctantly clapping as well. I started smiling. Someone screamed "One more!" Some other people agreed. I nodded and looked at the band. They nodded. "So, this is for the girls that Sirius Black...um...went out with." Every girl's head snapped up, as well as the Marauders'. I smirked.

More girls cheered for me, in relation to the song. I was smiling, more than I ever could.

"Yeah one day you'll be beggin' on your knees for me." I sang. I gained a new confidence in myself. I would never have been able to sing this in front of everyone before. The feelings have caught up to me, but I am glad they did. I smiled and walked off the stage as everyone applauded.
A slow song came on. I sat near a table and drank some water.
I saw a familiar figure approach me, and an all too familiar feeling came over me.

"Hey, uh...you wanna dance?" Black asked. My eyes widened and I spit out the water.
