Text Jealousy

My day flew by uneventfully. I did the usual: put up a facade for my horrible classmates and took care of my siblings. It was already time to go to bed. I checked my cellphone. There was no notification of a text.

Krysta didn't text me at all today. I bet that she was texting her boyfriend all day. I knew she was happy that way, but at least text me once or twice... maybe thrice.
I dozed off to sleep while glaring at my phone.

The rest of the week turned out that way. I did my normal schedule. I took care of my siblings. I hung out with stuck up people with them asuming my innocence. I had small talks with Krysta.

It was finally evening. I was at the park waiting for Nick and Krysta.

"Hey, Kai!" Krysta said waving at me. She just entered the park. She was a little far from the swings, where I was at.

I greeted, "Hey! How are you doing?"

Krysta sighed, "Come on. You saw me like a couple of hours ago and texted me like thirty minutes ago."

I walked up to her until I was in front of her. I said, "There is nothing wrong with worrying, is there?"

She replied, "With moderation. " She pat my head and started walking to the swings. She sat on one.

I sat on one beside her. I asked, "Has Nick been being a nice boyfriend."

Krysta nodded, "Yeah. He has been very protective. He's sweet like that."

I muttered, "I bet I'm better than him."

She asked, "What?"

I said quickly, "I bet I'm better with him."

Krysta giggled, "You are too funny."

I laughed in respond to her giggles. Her laugh was so beautiful to me. I asked, "Do you know how long it will take until he comes here?"

Krysta glanced at the phone in her hand. She shrugged, "I don't know."

I hoped that he never comes. I would like for me and her to be alone. Everything would have been better that way. I liked it so much better. I didn't understand why I was fine that they were together.

My cellphone rang from a notification. I checked my phone. It was my ex. I totally forgot that I had her number in here. Right... her name was Tiara. She was asking if she would mind her introducing me to her friend, Melody.

I typed into my phone, "No."
Krysta minded her own business and continued staring into her phone.

I got a text back quickly asking, "Why?"

I answered, "I have someone else I like."

A few seconds later, I got a text saying, "Is it that girl, Krysta?" Okay, she didn't use the exact word 'girl'.

I didn't even think about what to text next. I just typed without a second thought, "Why don't you mind your own business and stop belittling my friend." I press send and groaned at my poor choice.

I got another text back, "That girl is with someone else. Is she seducing you?"

I scowled without texting back.
Krysta asked, "Are you okay?"

I looked and saw that she looked worried. I cleared my throat and said, "I'm fine."

I was not fine. It was because she didn't just call Krysta 'girl', and the fact that she's right, Krysta is with Nick. I just wish none of that was true.

I asked, "Want to tell Nick to meet us at the mall's food court?"

Krysta looked at her phone some more. She said, "Well, Nick said that he's running late. I'll tell him." She texted him, and we were on our way.

Now she could stop texting him, and she was all mine, for now.
