A whole week has gone pass and I been keeping this secret. I know if I told my mom or anyone they would think we're crazy. My mom would say I'm way too young. I haven't lived yet I should wait. But the thing is I don't want to wait. I know what I want and its him. So we decided after graduation, we're going to the justice of peace get married and invite ppl to "My Grad Party" but really it's our reception. I never wanted a big wedding so this was perfect. We got our marriage licenses yesterday and we're basically marriage already. We just have to go see the judge. We need one witness I asked my mom to meet us down there. She doesn't know what she's meeting us for but she'll soon find out. I hope she wouldn't be to mad at us. I hope her being there would ease it a little. I know she would want to be there.
I can't let thy bother me now. Our congratulation is about to start. The music started letting us know it was time to walk down the aisle. I was at the end of the long because for a girl I was kind of tall. The butterflies was starting to form in my belly.
It was my turn to begin walking, I saw my family and I waved to them. The looks on their faces showed pride. I knew they was proud of me. My Gpa was very good 4.0 and I was attending Lincoln in the fall with a full scholarship. Shit I was proud of my self. It was a tough ride but I finish it and I'm happy with myself.
The ceremony was about a hour and half long. I was now waiting for my name to be called so I could walk across the stage.
They called Laresha Anderson & she walks in front of me. I was next and I was so excited I can't believe this was my last day as a high school student. I officially was a high school graduate.
Niesha Anderson, our principal said my name!
I walked up and they handed me my diploma. My family and friend was screaming and clapping my name. To be honest I think I had the loudest cheer. I shook the staff hands as I walked a crossed the stage back to my seat. After they called our name they have out the last award. It was the SSA(Student Scholar Award) Award.
Our 2016 SSA Award goes to....... Niesha Anderson, she has been a great student for 4 straight years. Honor Roll, Multiple Awards for different activities. Also she has a full scholarship to Lincoln University room and board. She has survived for the success and we just wanted to give her this award with $1,000 check toward your books cost. As well as being the SSA Award reciprocate. She's your Valedictorian of class 2016.
I was so surprised I cried as I walked across the stage again. Principal Miles gave me a hug and he told me how proud of me he was. I took the mic to begin my speech that I've been working on for months now.
Principal Miles, Trustees, Faculty members, family, friends and fellow graduates today is the day to be thankful and to be inspired.
First, we have much to be thankful for. Here at Strawberry Mansion High we have been given a great education thanks to our fine administration and teachers. They prepared us for what's to come in our future. For that we thank you all.
We should also be thankful for our families. These pass four years have presented us with different trial and tribulations that they help us through. With the guidance and grace only a parent could give. Thanks mom for always being my back bone. A special thanks to my daddy who's not here today but he has been my rock since I could remember. His love for me was so strong it surpassed him and I still feel it with him being gone. I love you daddy continue to rest in peace. I wouldn't have been here if it wasn't for you two thank you. Also my sisters, my older sister set an example that I had to live up to. She was excellent student and I grateful to be walking in her footsteps. My little sister, because I know she looks up to me I know I have to do my best. I want nothing but the best for her. I couldn't just tell her what to do. I had to show her what the best looks like. I worked very hard for you. I hope I made you all proud. Thank you all for being my backbone. I love you!
