~Sayuri's P.O.V.~
We stepped into the field, the grass coated in ash. I closed my eyes. After this, I'm going to find Onii-chan. "Aye! Sayuri, you're holding us up!" Hana yelled. I opened my eyes. I ran towards Hana and Tamotsu, who were already halfway across the field. By the time I caught up to them, they had already reached the edge of the forest. "Sayuri, don't daydream on jobs." Tamotsu scolded. "Sorry, I can't help it." I muttered. We pushed our way through the forest in search of the beast.
Grrrrrrrhhhhh
I spun around, staring at a strange, black bush.
GRRRRRRRRRRRHHHHHH
The bush began to shake. A red glow slowly formed around the bush and it began to grow. The bush formed itself into a tall, ugly, red-eyed, black furred beast. It stared into my eyes, breathing heavily. It senses danger. I quickly jumped into my attack stance; my two hand held together, both holding up only a pinky finger and an index finger. I brought my right foot behind me, stabilizing my weight. I narrowed my eyes, staring equally as hard at the beast's eyes. "Well, this one's all you!" I heard Tamotsu yell. I gritted my teeth. All of a sudden, the monster charged in my direction. "Freeze Shell!" I yelled, an iron ice bubble shielding me from the beast's attack. The beast crushed the shield and continued charging, but this time towards Tamotsu and Hana. I stared in shock as the beast charged at my friends.
"NO!" I screeched, closing my eyes. When I tried to open them, all I saw was darkness. I held out my hands, desperately reaching for anything. I tried opening my eyes again. "No, no. Not again... No.." I screamed, but nothing came out. A small glow appeared in the distance. I ran towards it as quickly as I could. "T-Tamotsu..? Hana..?" I squeaked in disbelief. Tamotsu and Hana were laying on the black ground, unconscious. A swarm of iron snowflakes began to surround us. "NO, NOT THIS TIME." I screeched, leaping into my attack stance. I clenched my fists, lifting my arms above my head. I plunged my fists violently into the ground and lifted my head up.
"RAGE OF IRON WINTER!" I screeched, strange magic coming out from my mouth. I spun in a circle, destroying the iron snowflakes. I collapsed onto the ground and crawled over towards Hana and Tamotsu. I covered them with my body, shielding them from anymore attacks. I closed my eyes. When I opened my eyes, we were behind the beast that had charged at us earlier. "W-what..?" I said, my voice nearly a whisper. "Sayuri... What did you do?" I heard Hana behind me. "Stay here." I ordered, pulling myself to my feet.
I stared at the beast, leaping into the air. I brought my hands up to my mouth. "Rage of Iron Winter." I snarled, magic shooting through my mouth, through my hands, and hitting the beast's back. The iron ice shot through its back, drilling through its body. The beast screamed out in agony, turning around. It screeched, black smoke coming from its mouth. I landed on the ground, skidding backwards. Black smoke hit my body at all angles, cutting into my skin. I screeched out in pain as the blood in my veins began to boil. Literally.
I crumbled to the ground, my skin beginning to bubble. I looked at my arms, both of them stained with black blood. I cringed at the filthy sight. The black blood circled around my arms, gripping onto my body fiercely. The blood wound around my neck, choking me. "H-Hel--p.." I coughed, the black blood tightening its grip on my body. I closed my eyes, briefly losing consciousness.
I woke up to a screech. As I opened my eyes, I spotted Tamotsu leaping onto the beast's back. He held a pure white sword in his hand and began slashing at the beast with lightning speed. I tried to get up, but my body refused. "Sayuri, stay down. Tamotsu's got your back for now." Hana reassured me. I turned my head. Hana was standing next to me, her wings spread, prepared to take off with me in case of an emergency. I nodded, laying my head down on the ground. I watched as Tamotsu charged at the beast fearlessly.
"Kansō!" He yelled, a red samurai sword appearing in his hand, replacing the pure white sword. He swung at the beast, cutting into its skull. The samurai sword disappeared, two identical thin swords appearing in his hands. He slashed at the beast faster than ever before, black blood spilling everywhere. "Tamo... Watch out... The... Blood..." I squeaked, my voice barely audible. Hana looked over at me. "Tamotsu, avoid the blood!" Hana screamed. It's too late. I closed my eyes, taking a deep breath. I forced myself to my feet, the black blood piercing into my skin. I clenched my fists together in anger. As I opened my eyes, I brought my hands up to my mouth. "Rage of Iron Winter!" I screeched, ignoring the pain throughout my body. I ran forward, springing onto the demon, hitting it with my magic. "Iron Ice Blade!" I yelled weakly, a black iron ice sword forming in my right hand. I ran up the beast's back, reaching its neck. "Tamotsu! I won't be able to kill it alone!" I yelled at Tamotsu. I glanced at my arms, the black blood beginning to disappear. Tamotsu nodded at me, leaping onto the beast's head. The beast screeched, whipping its body back and forth ferociously. I grabbed onto its spiky hair, my body whipping back and forth. Tamotsu grabbed onto the beast's ear, clinging on for dear life. As soon as the beast stopped whipping its body back and forth, Tamotsu sprung up at my side. He smiled at me. I nodded to him, preparing my sword. "Kansō!" He said, the pure white sword appearing in his hands.
"Fury of Iron Winter's Iron Blade!" "Pure Light's Revenge!" Tamotsu and I screeched in unison. We plunged our swords into the beast's neck, all of our movements in synch with each other's. Black blood sprayed everywhere as the beast collapsed onto the ground, flinging us off it. I crashed into the ground, hitting my head violently. Tamotsu landed on top of me, conveniently using my body as a landing cushion. I blinked my eyes opened, Tamotsu's face buried in my chest. "Idiot!!" I screamed, kicking him off of me. I stood up, brushing my clothes off. "S-Sorry.." Tamotsu blushed, staring at the ground awkwardly. I looked over at the ferocious creature, the ground underneath it stained with black blood. I cringed. I walked over towards the beast, spotting something tied around its neck. I ripped the strange object off of its neck and examined it. A necklace, huh? Wait, what's this? It sort of looks like a light crystal.. I held the necklace closer to my eye, examining the crystal. I touched the crystal. The instant I touched it, the crystal began to glow. I dropped the necklace, stumbling backwards. "M-My magic power... It's all back? But... A moment ago it was drained! What is this?" I stood up and stepped towards the crystal. I picked the necklace up, careful not to drop it. I searched around for my satchel. It probably fell off somewhere while we were battling. I ran over towards the black blood stained camouflage bag, scooping it up in my hand. I slid the necklace inside and ran over towards my partners.
"I think... I should rest.." Tamotsu huffed, collapsing onto his knees. "Oi, Sayuri! You did amazing! We should do a Unison Raid on our next job!" He suggested. "Unison Raid..?" I asked, confused. "Yeah, it's sorta like combining powers, kinda like what we just did. It's like an awesome combination move!" He exclaimed. "Sure." I replied. "Really?! Wow! Anyways, do you have any kind of strength-restoring potion stuff? You usually carry something like that around." He muttered. "No. Anyways, how did you find out that I carry elixirs?" I asked. "Uh..." Tamotsu stuttered. "You looked in my bag, didn't you?!" I growled. "Well, ya see--" "Do you not understand the concept of privacy? What are you? A pervert? A thief? A pickpocket?!" I yelled. "Aye... A pickpocket is a type of thief.." Hana muttered. "Hana, stay out of this!" I ordered. "Aye!" Hana nodded, making a hand motion of her zipping her lips. I narrowed my eyes at Tamotsu. "We'll talk later. Let's just cut out its eye or get a chunk of hair or something and get it back to the old man." I muttered, forming a small knife in my hand from iron ice. I walked up to the beast and quickly cut out one of its beady red eyes. I cupped it in my hands, forming a tiny "Freeze Shell" around it. I slipped it into my bag and pushed my way through the forest, not caring if Hana and Tamotsu were behind me or not.
