My jaw dropped at the sight of this strange man in our room. He seems so familiar... Yet so strange. Who is he?
"Uhh, Sayuri... Your shirt?" Tamotsu stuttered. I looked down, the only thing covering my chest was a white bra. I quickly pulled the clean shirt over myself.
"Sayuri... No... Sayuri... It can't be..." The man muttered. "Who the hell are you?" Tamotsu demanded, equipping a samurai sword in his hand. Tamotsu charged at the man, causing a bright flash, leaving me temporarily blinded. I blinked my eyes open, spotting Tamotsu and the intruder clashing swords. I quickly grabbed Hana, who was watching from the bed. I pulled her into the bathroom and locked the door.
"Who is that man?" Hana asked. "I don't know. He seems familiar, though." I muttered. I peeked through the keyhole, staring at the strange man. He slashed at Tamotsu ferociously, cornering him. I covered my mouth with my hand. The intruder slashed Tamotsu's sword out of his hand and pointed his long, sharp sword at Tamotsu's neck. I took a deep breath and unlocked the door. I stepped outside, trying to hide my fear. "Please, leave my friend alone. If it is me you would like to see, then here I am." I ordered. The man turned around and stared at me. I stared at him back, equally as hard. "You. Y-You knew Akiya, didn't you?" I stepped back, horrified at what the man had just said. A-Akiya.....
"What a beautiful baby girl. Oh, if only your father and brother could see you now..." A woman whispered. "They would be so proud. I'm sure you'll grow into a strong, powerful young woman." She whispered again. "Oh, if only this moment could last forever...." There was a pause. "What a shame that you had to be born in such a terrible blizzard. But I must stay positive. You bring light to this cottage in the middle of this terrible blizzard. You make it seem as if it's the first winter.... So beautiful and precious.. Ah, that's it. Your name will be Sayuri, like the small lilies that blossom even during the harshest winter..." Her voice drifted off. "My name is Akiya, and I'm your mother. I can't wait to see you discover your magic. I'm positive that it will be the most beautiful magic that there ever was.."
I blinked, forcing myself out of the flashback. "A-Akiya.." I stuttered, barely forcing the word from my mouth. "W-Who are you?" I demanded, stumbling backward. "You look just like her..." The man looked down, sheathing his sword. I backed into the bathroom door, leaning my back against it. "You're her daughter, aren't you?" The man stepped closer to me. "Yes." I gulped, closing my eyes. "In that case, stay away from the darkness." I opened my eyes at the man's words, confused at what they meant. "I'll be going now. It was good to see you again." The man closed his eyes and disappeared.
"Sayuri, what's going on here? First this guy breaks into the room, attacks me, and then starts chatting up a storm with you?! Explanation, now." Tamotsu brushed himself off. "He teleported." I stared at the ground. "Yeah, he did. That means we can't follow him, at least not right now." Tamotsu said angrily. "I can teleport." I stated. "What?! B-But I thought you only knew Iron Winter magic?!" He exclaimed. "No. Back in the forest-- where I first learned magic, I learned several different types. First I learned Teleportation Magic, then Iron Winter, and I briefly studied Card Magic." I said. "Wow. If Teleportation is the first magic you learned, then why don't you use it? You must've perfected it by now." Tamotsu questioned. "It's complicated." I replied. "I get it. So anyway, who was that man? It seemed like you knew him."
"That man was my father." I declared. "What?!" Hana screamed, poking her head out from the bathroom. "Uh-- Sayuri? Are you sure?" Tamotsu asked. "His eyes. His magic. Blue eyes. Teleportation Magic." I muttered. "My mother had purple eyes. My father has blue eyes. I have one purple eye and one blue eye. I use Card Magic, like my mother once did. I use Teleportation Magic, like my father now does." I buried my face into my hands. I walked over to the bed and sat down.
"Sayuri, it's going to be okay." Tamotsu tucked my hair behind my ear, revealing my left eye. "You're right. It is blue." He said. I looked up, staring into Tamotsu's eyes. They were purple, like my right eye, only darker. "So, your mother had blonde hair like yours, eh?" He asked. "Yeah." I replied. "Any other family members I should know about?" "You mean we." Hana corrected Tamotsu. "My brother." I answered. I grabbed my satchel and pulled out a folded piece of paper. I unfolded the paper, revealing a little blonde boy with dark blue eyes. "This was taken right before he went missing. My mother left it for me so that I could find him." I folded the paper back up and slipped it back into my satchel. "We'll help you find him. While we're looking, we can go do some jobs so we won't get bored." Tamotsu suggested. "... And earn money so we can buy food, shelter, and clothing, right?" I added. "Oooh! And fish! And weaponry! And extra stuff!" Hana added. "Yes, and all that stuff, too." I giggled.
"Before you woke up, I went and found a nice little house in the outskirts of town. I think you'll both like it." Tamotsu blushed and looked down. "I'm sure we will. Did you meet with the owner?" I asked. "Uhh... I already bought it." His cheeks reddened even more. "Tamotsu! You should've consulted with us first!!" I scolded him, making a fist. "Aye! You're gonna pay, Tamo!" Hana hissed. "I already did. I bought the house for 450,000 jewel." He ran his hand through his hair. "Great. There goes all of your money. Good thing I still have--" "SAYURI!!!" Hana interrupted me. "What now?" I rolled my eyes. "ALL OF OUR MONEY IS GONE!!" Hana screeched. "WHAT?!" I yelled. I looked over at Tamotsu.
"Heh..." He blushed. "Well, nothing we can do about it now. Pack your bags, Hana. We're getting out of this inn." I closed my eyes, taking a deep breath. Happy thoughts, happy thoughts. Mochi, sukiyaki, mmm... sukiyaki.. I shook my head, breaking out of my daydream. I ran into the bathroom, scooping up my clothes, toothbrush, toothpaste, and hairbrush. I folded my clothes and tucked everything back into my satchel. I threw it over my shoulder and walked over to the door.
"Ready?" I asked as Tamotsu and Hana treaded up to the door. "Aye!" Hana replied. "Yep." Tamotsu nodded. "Great. Let's go." We headed out the door, allowing Tamotsu to lead us to the new house.
