I looked up at the house. Hmm.. Bricks... It's sturdy. Two floors, as well. I wonder how many rooms it has. Tamotsu pulled out a key from his backpack and unlocked the door. I stepped into the house, my jaw dropping. "T-Tamotsu--" I stuttered. "Aw, man! You don't like it. I knew it. I should've just trusted my instinct.." His voice drifted off. "N-no-- I love it! It's absolutely perfect! Don't you think so, Hana?" I jumped up and down, eager to see the rooms. "Aye!" Hana squealed, her wings quickly appearing. She took off, flying around to explore the new house.
"There are three bedrooms. One for me, one for you and Hana-- don't worry, you two have the biggest bedroom. The last bedroom is for a guest. Y'know, just in case the Mori's wanna visit, or something." Tamotsu pointed at a tall oak door. "That one's yours. It's already furnished." He turned around and headed down the hallway. I opened the door, revealing a large, beautiful room. It had beautiful intricate designs staining the light blue walls. I looked over at the large bed. It had a blue frame and pretty light pink sheets. Almost like cotton candy. I looked across the room, a smaller bed next to the cotton candy bed. It was purple with light pink sheets, the same as the larger one. I leapt onto the large bed, bouncing up for a split second. I curled up, my head sinking into the pillows. I reached into my satchel and pulled out the small piece of paper. I unfolded it, revealing the little blonde haired boy. "Onii-chan.." I whispered, hugging the picture.
"Aye! Is this our room? It's amazing!" Hana yelled. She flew over to the small bed, tossing herself on top of it. She curled up underneath the sheets and quickly dozed off. I folded the picture back up and tucked it back into my satchel. I got up and exited our room and walked down the hallway.
"May I come in?" I knocked on Tamotsu's door, the room next door to ours. "Sure." Tamotsu called. I turned the doorknob, opening the door. I stepped inside, staring at the red walls. I looked across the room, a large bed with a white frame and black sheets pushed against the wall. Tamotsu's backpack was on the floor, along with a bunch of scattered papers. Tamotsu quickly kicked them under the bed and turned towards me. "So you do like it, don't you?" He smiled. "It's perfect. Hana loves it, too." I smiled back. "I knew you two would." He nodded. "So, why is the place furnished with all of our favorite colors?" I asked. "I have my ways." He winked. "Ah. I see you even managed to get a small kitchen." I said. "Mhmm." Tamotsu replied. "Well, I'm going out to explore. I haven't seen much of Onibus, so I'm excited to find out more about it." I turned around and walked out the door, calling back to Tamotsu.
"Wait, let me go with you!" He yelled down the hallway. I rolled my eyes and walked into my room, shutting the door. I quickly locked it. I grabbed my satchel off of my bed and began taking out the few clothes I had inside. I walked across the room to the dresser and opened one of the drawers. I looked inside, spotting a few new dresses, shirts, pants, shorts, and even skirts. Wow, Tamotsu really outdid himself. I pulled out a white shirt and a pair of blue shorts. I quickly changed into them and walked back over to my bed. I took a small stack of magic cards out and set them on top of my dresser along with a dagger. I looked in the mirror that was hanging on the wall above the dresser. I stared at my reflection. Long, straight blonde hair. One purple eye, one blue eye. Pale skin. Small nose. Small mouth. Average ears. I looked at my hands. Oh, and small hands, too. And bangs swooping over my blue eye. And a stupid mark on my arm. I picked a small pin up off of the dresser and pinned my bangs back away from my eye. I opened the second drawer, searching for a cloth or something to tie my hair up with. I pulled out a rubber band and wrapped it around my hair, forming a ponytail. I walked over to my bed and sat down. I grabbed my satchel, pulling out the little folded paper.
I unfolded the paper and stared at it. Spiky blond hair. Blue eyes. Peachy skin. A scar above his right eye. That's my Onii-chan. I hugged the picture and closed my eyes. I'll find you, Onii-chan. I promise. I opened my eyes and walked over to my dresser. I opened the first drawer and hid the paper underneath some of my clothes.
"Oi! Sayuri, did you leave already?" Tamotsu yelled. I huffed and opened the third drawer of my dresser. I pulled out a dark blue vest and slipped it on over my shirt. I ran over to my bed, quickly pulling out the necklace I had gotten from my first mission. I put the necklace on and hurried out the door. I ran down the stairs, through the kitchen, and out the door. I stopped and looked around the house, spotting a hill with a small tree towards the west. I ran to the hill, climbing up the slope. I sat down, leaning my back against the tree trunk. I looked up and closed my eyes.
~Tamotsu's P.O.V.~
I hurried down the stairs and peeked outside the door. "Sayuri?" I looked around. I stepped outside and scanned the area. I ran over to the hill, spotting a silhouette against the tree. I climbed up the hill and looked down at what was leaning against the tree. "Mhhh.." Sayuri snored lightly. I sat down on the opposite side of the tree, leaning my back against the trunk. I closed my eyes.
It's so peaceful here. I think I could get used to this.
Wshhhh
I opened my eyes and scanned the hillside. I looked up, spotting a strange insect creeping down the tree. I jumped to my feet, taking a step back. The insect lowered itself to the ground, forming into a tall, green haired woman. The woman smirked, her red eyes glistening. I took another step back, fearing what was going to happen next. I took a deep breath. In the blink of an eye, Sayuri and the woman were gone.
"Sayuri?! Sayuri!" I yelled, scanning the area. I ran down the hill. "Sayuri?! Sayuri?! Sayu-chan?!" I screamed. I bent down, placing my hands on my knees. "Sayu-chan.." I panted. I looked down, spotting a small note on the ground. I picked the note up.
