You hid a smirk behind your hand as the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor called on you and Draco to duel each other. You loved to duel. You also enjoyed the fact that you would get to wipe the smug look off of Draco's face. You didn't dislike him as much as Harry, Ron, and Hermione did. In fact, you had a bit of a crush on him. However, Draco had always thought himself better than you, and this was your time to prove him wrong.
The two of you stood face to face with your wands raised. Your smirk had shifted into a picture of concentration. At the same time, the two of you moved your wands to the side of you. You respectfully bowed to each other.
"Good luck, Y/L/N," he taunted.
Without a word, you spun around. You counted out your five paces and spun around. Draco had turned a moment later and quickly raised his wand. You waisted no time as the two of you spoke your spells at the same time. You, however, managed to say yours slightly quicker.
"Expelli-"
"Flipendo!"
A red light shot from your wand and slammed into Draco's chest. The Slytherin boy was quickly knocked backwards a few yards. Without giving him a chance to recover, you added a second charm, making sure to make the proper hand movements.
"Duro!"
Draco was suddenly very still. You allowed your smirk to return as the rest of the class began to clap. Harry, Ron, and Hermione were laughing loudly as they clapped. The professor congratulated you as you walked over to the unmoving boy. You bent down next to him, his eyes shifting to see you, and readied your wand.
"Explico," you muttered, freeing the boy.
Once freed, you hurried back over to the large crowd. You focused on your friends. Instead of the expected scowl, Draco shot you a massive grin you didn't see. He would never admit it, but you had impressed him.
