I sat in the middle of the classroom - third row, far right side - as usual. We didn't have assigned seats in any of my classes, (guess the teachers thought we were old enough now to handle ourselves) but I always sat in the same place. I didn't stand out in class like the kids who sat in the front or the back, and that was the point. Also, it provided me with a great view of Harry Potter.

Harry Potter - The Boy Who Lived, but he was so much more than that. He was loyal, kind, handsome, and sassy - not that I'd ever talked to him. He usually sat in the second row, behind Hermione and next to Ron, but today, he was somewhere different. Harry was sitting right next to me.

I couldn't help but notice y/n y/l/n sneaking glances at me every few minutes. I caught her eye as she looked over and she blushed and turned away. It was a shame; I'd only sat over here to talk to y/n, but it seemed like she was too shy to talk to me.

I bit my lip and turned to her, not pausing to think about my words. "y/n, can I borrow a quill?"

She looked at me timidly, then raised an eyebrow. "Do you honestly think that I can't see your quill in your bag?"

I cringed. "I'm sorry. I don't really need a quill; I just wanted to talk to you."

y/n turned to look at me full on for the first time since I had walked in to the classroom. "Talk to me? Why?"

"Why not?"

"You should've just said so."

A few weeks went by, and Harry and I were talking daily. We were teasing each other, joking like old friends, even going so far as to prank Fred and George. It was wonderful - I was actually comfortable around him.

Well, mostly.

I wasn't really over my crush, but being Harry's friend was much better than staring at him instead of taking notes in class. But every once in a while, there was an awkward moment when I was caught off guard by his attractiveness, like the morning of his Quidditch match against Hufflepuff.

He strode in to the Great Hall wearing his Quidditch uniform and I felt my heart skip a beat. He tugged on my braid as he reached around me for a huge blueberry muffin.

"Hey Harry," I said, praying that my face wasn't turning red.

"Are you going to the game?"

"No," I rolled my eyes, "I'm staying in to study. I've just been itching to write that Potions essay." He swept his hair out of his green, green eyes and I lost my train of thought for a moment. "Of course I'm going, Harry. I wouldn't miss it for the world."

"Great," he said through a huge bite of muffin. He tugged on my braid again and strode back out of the Great Hall.

Maybe it was just my imagination, but I thought he had a bit more spring in his step than when he came in.

Initially, all I had wanted was to get to know y/n. But the more I had talked to her, the more I had liked her. y/n was friendly, sweet, and much more sassy than I had realized initially.

It only took me a month to realize that I was in love. I was just too scared to say so. Apparently, it was obvious.

"Bloody hell," Ron told me one day as y/n walked away, "Just ask her out already! I'm sick of watching the two of you pine over each other!"

"For once," added Hermione, "I agree with Ron."

It took a lot of convincing, but eventually, Ron and Hermione persuaded me to ask y/n out.

When Harry asked me out, it was like the perfect ending of a fairy tale. He whispered it in my ear as he hugged me, and for a moment, I was too shocked to reply.

When I got my breath back, of course I said yes.
