"We're here."
I lifted my head that was previously rested against the car window, groggily blinking my eyes open as a yawn escaped my lips. The foreign sight of minimalistic, modern houses greeted me when I pushed open the car door, making my jaw drop as I gaped at them.
"Don't houses like these cost a fortune? I don't even want to imagine how much you spent on this," I turned to mum with wide eyes, "Do I want to know?"
All she did was chuckle, "Come on Celeste, I'm sure you'll love it here. If you don't, we can always transfer, give it a shot." Mom said as she chuckled, opening the boot to retrieve the boxes.
"I don't know, I feel like this is where all the stuck up, nosy rich people take up residence," I muttered under my breath. Unfortunately it wasn't soft enough to go unnoticed as mum shot me a look.
"Kidding." I put my hands up in surrender as I gave her an awkward chuckle.
Mum dumped the boxes in my hands, "Well looks like you're going to be one of those 'stuck-up, nosy rich people'. Go put these in your room."
I let out an "umph"
"That's the spirit. Now take your clothes and go unpack in your room." She smiled before passing me some boxes labelled with my name as she shooed my teasingly.
"Um.. I don't exactly have a room. 'Cause if you hadn't noticed, this place is new." I retorted sarcastically and raised my eyebrows.
"Well, go pick one then." Patting my back as she gestured for me to start moving.
I rolled my eyes and hid a smile, adjusting the boxes in my arms before entering the house.
It was a modern-styled house with glass everywhere. It had a burgundy, earthy-tone colour scheme that wasn't too bright, nor too dull. There was a lounge room that led to a patio where a couple of lounge chairs were placed near the pool.
After taking glances at different areas of the house, I quickly began to make my way upstairs, not wanting to get distracted by the different rooms the house had. There were five rooms upstairs, one was the master bedroom, another was my future room and three other guest room.
Man, this place is big.
I knew I wasn't getting the master bedroom, that's mom's room. I know she gave me the option to choose, and she would gladly let me have it if I asked, but she bought the place, even if she insists I have it, it's hers.
I decided to just close my eyes and simply walked into a room, of course, that resulted in me walking into a pillar before proceeding to actually enter the room. The room was an attic-styled room and had a tilt on the ceiling because of the roof, underneath was where a queen-sized bed sat with a very soft blue spreadsheet.
Mom must have had some of this house furnished already.
I unpacked my clothes and put them in the closet and set up my room to make it look more cozy rather than just plain walls and furniture in an empty space. After unpacking and wiping the tables and closets from dust it was already in the evening. I shut off the music blaring from my phone before plugging it in to charge it and heading down stairs to have dinner.
After dinner, I went up to my room once again, receiving a soft knock on the door a few moments later. I had quickly discarded my headphones and opened the door only to be greeted by my smiling mother.
