❣Celestine's POV ❣

I subconsciously clutched onto Storm's arm as I nervously entered the room. I saw the woman sitting on the bed, back resting against the hospital bed, in her arms was a baby wrapped in a pale pink blanket. Her husband was at her side, stroking - I assume - their daughter's cheek, staring at her with love and awe.

I guiltily cleared my throat, not wanting to ruin their moment but Storm had remained a firm grip on my wrists.

"H-Hello, Mrs. and Mr. Chain." I stuttered out nervously, preparing myself with a harsh glare and a slap to the face, but instead was met with two pairs of warm eyes and a soft smile.

"Hello." She greeted genuinely.

I walked over, parting my lips, wanting to apologize but let my gaze fall on the baby in her arms. My heart fluttered when I took a look at her. I glanced over to her mother and she gave me a nod as I gently went to touch her small hands. Her fingers curled on mine, grabbing it and, to our surprise, opened her big green eyes.

I hear Mrs. Chain gasp in astonishment, her husband just looked really happy. I smiled at her and cooed softly.

"She looks just like her mother." I whispered. I looked back to the woman when she gave me the biggest smile, showing her pearly whites. Of course, the peaceful moment was ruined when I got head-butted with all the things that had happened.

"Oh my god, I'm so sorry Mrs. Chain, I didn't mean to pop out under your desk it's just I really needed to get something and I swear I wasn't robbing because my mother will have my head did I tell you I shop-lifted once? Yea-" I rambled nervously but got cut off by the lady's warm hearted chuckle.

She waved a hand dismissingly, "I already forgave you. You helped me get to the hospital in time to bring this little angel to this world. If you weren't under my desk, I don't know what would've happened."

Her husband laughed softly and held out his hand, "My name is Dean, this is my wife, Becca." He smiled. I shook his hand, smiling ruefully as he went to shake Storm's.

"Are the both of you together?" I hear Mrs. Chain ask. My heart pounded against my chest, blood flowed to my cheeks and I blushed and shook my head furiously.

"No, no, you got this wrong, we're just close friends." I smiled nervously, trying not to stutter. My palms started to sweat, becoming clammy even if the room temperature is low.

She gave a knowing look to her husband with him returning the look. I gulped, not wanting to know what it meant.

I glanced over at Storm to see he had a pained expression him on his face. Seeing him look like that made my heart pinch. I gently brushed my hands over his, looking at him with a tight smile and concern eyes. He narrowed his eyes and shut them, before blinking and opening his eyes once more, this time void of emotion.

I sighed and thanked Mr. and Mrs. Chain for their time as they told us to keep in contact, exiting the hospital. I chuckled, I already know where she works. Which reminds me, her water broke on the floor so it should've...

Uh oh.

Well, let's pretend it's water and not amnion liquid and hopefully the janitor would clean it up before the other ladies return to the office.

As we got in the car, I started up the engine and turned on the AC before I drove. I took a look at Storm to see him closing his eyes, visibly sighing and leaning his hand against the windows.

I frowned, "What's wrong?" I asked gently.

He looked at me with an unrecognizable expression and shook his head, once again building up his walls, "Just thinking hard."
