Storm's POV
No.
Fuck no.
This couldn't be happening.
Everything seemed a blur to me when she uttered those few words. Everyone's face fell, shocked. We were utterly speechless. The room was silent except for the faint beep of the heart monitor.
Griffin then let out a nervous chuckle, "You're kidding right? Say it's a prank, please I beg you." He pleaded helplessly.
Celestine then raised an eyebrow, "Okay, it's a prank."
"Really?" Griffin perked up.
"Well you told me to say it so I did, anyways you didn't answer my question. Who are you and what are you doing here?" Celestine asked again.
I could heart my heartbeat in my ears, I felt cold sweat on my forehead, and my body just wanted to shut down. How could she forget? People don't just wake up with amnesia like this.
"Do you know why you're here?" Christian asked quietly.
"I am aware." She nodded. Everyone seemed shaken on the outside, I could only imagine what they're feeling on the inside. Actually, I don't have to imagine, I'm living in it and it feels horrible.
"Hey be careful." Jessyn sounded, going over to help her sit up properly.
"Thanks." She smiled innocently. I hurt so much to see her smile like that, smiling like everything was okay, when in reality she just ripped out a chuck of all of our hearts and zipped it up in a black hole.
"Are you hungry?" Cassidy asked worriedly.
"Oh hey mom, yea I could use a bite." She smiled sheepishly.
I could see the shocked look on Cassidy's face when she addressed her as 'mom'. She must have thought Celeste had forgotten her. Cassidy's eyes were filled with tears of sadness and joy; joy for her waking up and remembering something; sadness for how she couldn't remember much else.
She leaned over and stroked her hair, "I'll be back soon, okay? Why don't you talk to your friends?" Cassidy gestured to us.
She then raised her eyebrow in pure confusion. "So that's who they are - my friends?" And supposedly soon to be boyfriend. I thought bitterly.
Cassidy then nodded before leaving, shooting all of us an apologetic look.
"Hey guys." Celeste waved and immediately everyone rushed to her, talking to her, introducing themselves all over again, telling her jokes.
I couldn't move, I was so disappointed in myself for not being stronger, for not being the guy she deserves before this, I always thought she'd be here for me, that I didn't think to cherish it more. I had taken her for granted and for that I would always regret it. I studied her from the doorway, shutting everyone out for the moment and just thinking. She looked so happy an confused at the same time. She was smiling at all the company she got from but I know she was still not sure what we meant to her, or what she meant to us.
"Storm." I hear a soft whisper and turned to the voice.
"Can I have a word with you?" Cassidy whispered, not wanting to disturb the others and I nodded, following her out of the room and to the hallways.
"I spoke to the doctor just now."
"And?" I wasn't letting go of the sliver of hope I had.
"Amnesia is a rare occurrence and doesn't usually occur unless the body was put in too much trauma or stress such as, abuse, sexual abuse etc. So in this case, it would only be temporary, she should be back to normal, but we aren't sure how long it takes." She smiled sadly.
