Storm's POV
My heart was pounding in my ears when I entered the hospital, requesting for Celestine Rover before rushing into the hall. I saw everyone there - Griffin, Jessyn, Jackson, Christian and her mother.
They were all huddled together, noticing the Jessyn and Ms. Rover's red eyes as tears rolled down their cheeks. Jackson was hugging his sister, while Griffin and Christian were comforting Celest's mother as they awaited the news.
"Storm." She walked over to me before enveloping me into a tight hug. I tried to hold in the tears that were burning the back of my eyes and I'd like to think I succeeded for that moment.
It felt like a nightmare and I tried to convince myself that it is, but then some words uttered made chills run down my spine and made me snap out of the dream-like state I was in. I had refused to believe it was true, I quickly turned to look for her, like a lost boy, only to realize she wasn't here; she was in there, in the emergency room fighting for her life. I looked around, feeling like the walls are closing around me as I tried my hardest to look for her, she was supposed to be here, by my side, making me smile, making me...
Happy.
•••
I was sitting on one of the chairs in the hall, already slowly nodding off to sleep. Everyone was exhausted. Ms. Rover was outside making calls, putting on a strong face as she smiled and nodded to the person on the other end of the line. But behind the forced smile, all of us could see she was about to break down in any moment.
Given that Celest isn't Ms. Rover's daughter by blood, it's incredible how much love and respect they have for each other. Ms. Rover treats Celest like her own blood and flesh, she didn't have to go through 9 months of swollen feet, morning sickness and back pains, she didn't have to go through labor pain, but yet she treats Celest as if she had to go through all those just to get her and care for her.
Jessyn was sleeping, resting her head on Jackson's shoulder as she sat next to him, his arm around her shoulder. She had probably tired herself out from all the crying. Jackson was being her rock, as her twin brother he kept silent, hurting silently as he comforted his sister. The two was always stuck to the hip, always there for each other no matter what. They would always argue over small things but stay together nonetheless. Both of them were always around Celest, sure they were busier - being the school'd ambassadors and all, but always hovering around her, making sure she was okay.
One of the main reasons why Celest had a smooth school year.
Griffin and Christian were leaning against the walls not too long ago, being the bigger people, they made sure everyone was okay, keeping strong but they seem as if they're going to cry in the slightest shove, especially Christian.
