Beth's P.O.V
I don't get why people always want to be with someone. I mean I've been single my whole life and I am very happy. All I need to keep me happy for days is pizza and chicken wings. Don't get me wrong I've liked many guys in my short but long lifetime, but I just don't like commitment. Look at Melanie and Timmy, for instance, they are always together. It's annoying. I wake up and there they are cuddling on the couch. Or I'm trying to eat my chicken wings and Melanie is talking with him on the phone, being all lovey dovey. Like, what the hell man I'm trying to eat here. I really hate couples sometimes. Especially when there's two that are always at my house. Chris and Alyss are always together too. It's horrible. I'm always surrounded.
Anyway, today I'm hanging out with James. I know he likes me, but I try to ignore it I just like to be friends with guys. Nothing else.
"So. What are you doing later?" He puts his lyric notebook down.
"None of your business." I say smiling.
"Why do you have to be like that?"
"What do you mean?" I ask innocently.
"Come on, Beth. Go out with me. Once. If you really don't like me we could go back to being just friends."
"I don't go out with people, James."
"You go out with Jimmy." He says under his breath.
I look at him with a disgusted face. "I don't go out with him. We just hang out as friends. " I say a bit irritated. "Let's get back to work." I start playing a couple chords.
He puts his hand on mine to make me stop playing. "What?!" I say angrily.
I see him lean in and I get up quickly. "I'm leaving now." I walk to the door angrily.
I get to the car and notice James walk out with my guitar. Shit. I walk toward him and reach for the case as he pulls it away. "What the hell." I say angrily.
"Go out with me please." He pleads.
"You are really getting annoying."
"Okay. We'll go out for Pizza and Chicken wings tomorrow and then I will never bother you again."
My eyes widened when he said pizza and chicken wings. Damn Alyss and Melanie told him my weakness.
"Fine." I say rolling my eyes. "But as friends."
His face lightens up and hands me my guitar. "Okay. I'll pick you up around 4."
"No. I'm driving, so I'll pick you up whenever I feel like it." I say putting the guitar in the trunk. "Bye."
"See you tomorrow."
I roll my eyes at him as I back out of the driveway. This idiot was really trying to kill me. I mean I was only going, because of the chicken. I felt bad, but I didn't like him. I mean he's good looking and all, but I love being a single pringle and I'm going to stay that way until someone slaps me to my senses. Plus, I'm too young for commitment. I want to have fun and not be dragged down by a guy. I smile at my words, turn up the radio, and dance a little as my favorite song comes up.
