AUTHOR'S NOTE: This is a poem that I literally started writing earlier tonight. Usually I go months and months (sometimes even years) re-writing something until I put it up for others to see, and while I like this one enough to post, it's still a work in progress. There are so many different ways this could be read but that's the beauty of art, in whichever form. Art is a very personal and individual thing, an expression of self and of the world within themselves and the world around them, and each person takes away from it what they will. And that's all I have to say about that. :)

Gone Baby Gone
You found me again
Like you always do
You came to me with your
huge, shy smile and
soft, deep voice
You said that I knew you, though
I had no clue,
until you put that song in my head,
the one you said you wrote for me, the
one you said was written through so many lifetimes ...
And even though I knew who you were, then, it
took a long time to remember you ...
I still feel you ... have always felt you ...
your
sadness and joy and regret from
a life left too soon ...
... it's okay ... I forgive you ...
And I remember,
I fucking REMEMBER
what we were, what we are,
and will always be
And I am HERE
I am here as I've always been ...
It makes my entire being ache
because it doesn't even matter that I remember,
doesn't matter that I'm here, living a lost life -- a ghost of a life that was really meant for two
but will always be one
because you are gone baby gone
