It's been a week since I've been in New York. I've adapted to my surrounding fairly quickly, but when I move from different locations all the time adapting is not that hard to do. Taylor usually has me come over around 8:00 every morning. She always makes sure I have breakfast no matter if its freshly cooked or some muffins.
The past couple of days Taylor had been going to the gym because "The 1989 World Tour" was in one month. I liked going to the gym because I was able to brush up a bit on training and I could release my stress. The nightmares are so frequent lately, so hitting a punching bag felt nice.
Right now, I was sitting in front of Taylor on the couch while she braided my hair.
"You're hair is really soft and thick." She said while brushing it.
"Thanks, it's kind of annoying sometimes." I said.
"How do you get your hair cut?" She asked.
"Well, I usually have one of the other agents cut it for me."
"It looks pretty."
"I'm surprised it grew back okay. When I was nine they shaved it all off so it wouldn't get in the way during training."
"Oh my god. Were you sad?"
"Maybe a bit, but it was already ruined anyway so, it was probably good that it got cut off."
"What was wrong with it before?"
"It was just a knotted, dirty mess."
"Awww, if you ever want to go get your hair done let me know and I'll take you."
"Thanks, but you don't have to." I said.
"Well if you do my offer stands strong."
"When will your friends be here?" I asked Taylor.
"They are coming at 1:00 so in about half an hour."
"What are they like?"
"Karlie is literal sunshine, Selena is so kind, Gigi is hilarious, and Martha is really fun. They are all just really nice girls." Taylor said while braiding strands of my brown hair together.
Meredith crawled into my lap and began purring as I pet her head.
"She loves you." Taylor said.
"She's a cool cat." I admired the ball of fur.
Getting my hair done felt really nice and soothing. It brought back a vague sensation that was hard for me to describe. I knew it was an old feeling from my childhood, though, and before my mom passed away. Maybe, she had braided my hair like this before. I was only 5 when she left my sister and me. At least I still had some memories of her, Cassidy was barely 2. I shook the memory off and focused on the cat in my lap.
"Are you planing to go out with your friends?" I asked.
"No, we were going to bake and hang out."
"I'm going to go to a few places during that time." I said.
I didn't really want to intrude on her hang out. Her friends probably didn't want to hang out with a teenage girl anyway.
"Oh, are you sure. I mean, we could go later to look at whatever you want to look at together." Taylor suggested.
"No, that's okay." I said.
Taylor tied the hair tie in.
"Are you sure? I don't want you to feel like you have to leave because my friends are coming over."
"Yes." I said simply.
Taylor's phone rang.
"Hello?"
"Really. Wow, she's usually never early" Taylor laughed.
"Let her in."
I heard the door open and a tan, blonde haired girl came walking in.
"Taylor!" She sang out as she entered the living room. I studied the girl closely as Taylor hugged her. Taylor look at me and said, "come here."
I walked up to the two.
"Alex, this is Gigi. Gigi, this is Alex."
"Alex! You are so cute." She beamed at me.
"Thanks." I said bluntly.
Honestly, Gigi was pretty and she looked like a model.
"Taylor's told me so much about you."
"Oh, really?" I said unsure.
Gigi nodded and laughed.
Olivia brushed up against Gigi's leg and the girl picked the cat up.
"Hi there, Sargent Benson!" The girl laughed as well as Taylor.
"Taylor!" A new voice called.
Another blonde haired beauty walked through the door. The two hugged and then the girl turned to me.
"Hi, I'm Karlie. You must be Alex! It is so great to meet you!" Karlie shook my hand and smiled.
"Nice to meet you, too." I said.
"Hey girls!" Two other girls came walking in. One was a tall blonde and the other was a dark haired girl.
"It's good to see you guys!" Taylor hugged the girls.
"Alex, this is Martha and Selena." The dark haired girl was Selena and the blonde was Martha.
The both hugged me which was awkward for me.
"Lets bake some cookies!" Taylor said.
"I'm going to head out now. Call me if you need anything." I told Taylor.
"You're aren't staying?" Selena asked.
"I have some places to go."
"Awww, com'n! I wanted to hang out with you!" Gigi said.
Taylor threw her arm around my shoulders.
"Can't you go shopping later?" Taylor asked.
"Uh...I guess I could." I said.
"Awesome! Lets get this party started!"Karlie cheered and we all went into the kitchen.
"Lets make those chai sugar cookies!" Martha said.
"Oh my god those things are so good!" Selena moaned.
"That sounds good." Taylor said and pushed some buttons on the oven.
"Have you ever had chai sugar cookies before?" Taylor asked me.
"Ummm, I don't know what those are so no."
"You'll like them. Everyone likes cookies, right?" Gigi said.
"I suppose, I don't really eat them much." I said.
"Clearly. You're as thin as a rail." Martha said. Taylor's friends had all turned their attention to me and I looked over to Taylor for help.
"Alright! Everybody can each make a batch." Taylor handed out bowls and ingredients. She handed me a bowl and I looked at it skeptically. I can't cook.
"Com'n I'll show you how." Taylor said placing the bowl in front of me.
Everything was clean and kept orderly.
"Alright, put in 1 cup of flour." Taylor said and demonstrated.
It was like a cooking class. She was really good at teaching us how to make the cookies. She gave us step by step instructions.
Only four batches of cookies could go in the ovens at a time. Taylor and I did ours last, but Selena gave me one of the cookies from her batch to try.
"Do you like it?" Selena asked.
"Yeah. It's good." I said.
Selena smiled, "Good. You look okay, so Taylor must not of poisoned us." Selena joked.
I laughed at the silly joke and enjoyed the rest of my cookie.
"Olivia!" Gigi said and picked up the cat.
"She's so cute!" Selena said petting the cat in Gigi's hand.
Something brushed my leg and I looked down to see Meredith purring. I picked up the antisocial cat and pet her head. The fluffy cat purred in content.
"Long time no see, Meredith." Martha said.
"Mere loves Alex." Taylor said.
"Really? I thought Meredith hated everyone and the world." Gigi said.
"Alex is Meredith's person." Taylor said.
I smiled getting Taylor's reference to Grey's Anatomy.
"So how's the getting ready for touring going?" Selena asked.
"It's going great! I think this tour is going to have a lot of energy. I'm excited for it."
"That's great. Your first show is in Tokyo right?"
"Yep. It's going to be a big crowd too."
"Isn't so cool how they will be the only completely surprised crowd?" Martha said.
"I know it will be so cool." Taylor said thoughtfully.
Everybody sat in the living room and talked about their jobs and random things.
"What's about you? When did you become an agent?" Selena asked.
"I was nine."
"Nine, wow, that's young." Karlie said.
"Not in that felid." I explained to the curious women. We wasted the day talking until the sun began to set on the New York skyline. Taylor's friends left after saying their goodbyes. I made sure they all safely got to their cars.
"It was nice to meet you!" Selena said.
She was the last one to leave. The others had photo shoots in the morning and had to catch a late flight tonight. Karlie, Gigi, and Martha were apparently models. They were all beautiful, so it didn't surprise me.
As soon as I walked back in from getting Selena to her car, Taylor turned to me.
"What did you think?" She asked me.
"About your friends?"
"Yeah."
"They were all very nice."
"Good, did you have fun?"
"I think so. Yeah." I nodded.
"Well I'm glad. I like girls' day." She smiled.
"Besides following you around everywhere, I've never had a girls' day."
"Well, there will be many more experiences like these to come." She told me. She pulled me in for a hug, which seemed pointless to me, but I've learned to at least try and hug back. I guess Taylor's growing on me.
