"Lauren you know we can't...""It wouldn't work out."

"Why not."she frowns."Do you not want to be together?""Was I just another fling?"she frowns as I immediately shake my head."I understand if I was...you told me from the start you don't do relationships.""I got caught up in my feelings, I'm sorry."she hangs her head.

"Lauren no.""It's not that."I'm hesitant to tell her how I really feel under the circumstances. Her friends resent me, her family dislike me because they think I'll break her heart and I'm possibly the worst person she could ever be associated with from my numerous arrests too my bad grades to me not having a future she deserves better than me.

I kneel on one knee in front of her grabbing her hand."Lauren...I would love to be with you. I really would. I want to be with you."I say lowly as she looks up at me with a small smile tears glossing over her emerald eyes."But."she takes her hand out of mine as I sigh."I don't have anything going for me in life Lauren.""I don't want to drag you down with me.""You're so bright and beautiful okay...I hope you know that.""I want you to be as successful as you can be in life.""I don't want to be the one to hold you back.""I'd have to get my life together before I could ever ask you to be my girlfriend okay?""I don't deserve you.""And I never will to be quite honest."

"Let me finish."I nod softly."I....I'm trying Lauren.""I'm trying for you.""I can't handle all these expectations from your family...or the girls...I mean they don't even like us being friends let alone us being a couple.""I'm gonna try and get my life together.""I want to turn my life around for the better.""And...I don't want you getting hurt either.""I have some very bad people in my life who...wouldn't appreciate my departure from this business."

"Really?"she sniffles."I...I don't want you getting hurt.""I never would."

"No ones going to get her."I cringe at the huge lie I had just told the love of my life."It'll be a smooth transition."I smile to reassure her or mostly to reassure myself. I'd probably be dead within the next two days if I tried to wiggle my way out of this drug ring I had going on.
