I thought to myself, Why not? When I saw Damon across the street.
I ran to him.
"I'm sorry."
He turned around, possibly surprised to see who was apologizing.
"For what?"
"Everyone deserves a second change, right?"
He smiled.
"I'm glad you feel that way."
"Wanna grab a coffee?"
"Sure. My treat."
We walked to a little bakery store and sat down out in outdoor serving. The waiter came fast.
"What can I get this lovely couple?"
I started blushing.
"We-we're not a couple."
"Oh, I see. So what would you two like?"
"A coke and a muffin."
"Sure thing."
"And the gentle man?"
"A piece of the cheesecake and a Fanta."
"Ookay, got it! I'll be back soon."
He smiled again.
"How have things been? Expect for that Noah guy at least..."
"Good, you remember Kacey?"
"Of course!"
"Well, she's pregnant."
"Wow, that's so good for her!"
"Yeah, she's really happy."
We sat there talking about his family, mine.
"You see that shop over there?"
Damon pointed at a building across the street.
I looked at the building when I saw a couple in front of it. Noah and Beverly.
"Shit."
"What?"
"That's Noah." I mumbled.
"That's who?"
"N-O-A-H"
"Oh... You want me to kick his ass?" He smiled.
I started laughing.
"No, thanks."
"Do you want to leave?"
"Naah. I'm fine."
"Okay."
